There is no objective, calculable measure by which your progress as a human can be compared - the universe is not designed to appraise you, applaud you, or condemn you. The only thing that matters is your now and your previous self, and if you are closer today to the way you want to live, person you want to be, or goals you want to accomplish than you were in the metaphorical yesterday then you are progressing, you are changing, you are making an impact.

And by g-d you dew-bright souls, I'm proud of you for the progress you've made in the things that matter to you.

Amongst all the other sets of very similar tags, I keep two very similar tags

#good for knowing

#good for thinking

One of them was intended as a tag for encouraging or reassuring posts for friends going through difficult times, so that they could click through and quickly see a collection of stuff that would hopefully help them as they were dealing with shit in their lives.

The other one was basically the exact same thing, but for myself rather than for anyone else

Problem is...I don't remember which is which any more

And looking through tag history doesn't help as much as you'd think

So now I keep two very similar tags, and occasionally stop to remember that there's an investment of self in everyone you choose to love, and that in spite of the difficulty it sometimes presents that I am my own friend. We are one and the same.

I'm in bed right now in the dark and quiet except for one fan because I hit a breakpoint earlier tonight and Everything Was Too Much(tm). But this is a picture from a couple days ago after waking up, when being in bed was bright and calm and pretty and happy.

Please never forget that for every night there is a morning, for every hard time there is time when you will thrive and flourish even if it's not obvious in the moment. Love you all, please get good rest, stay hydrated, and look for what beauty you can find in the day to day things...even something as banal as being in bed.

Sometimes connecting with people can be a little awkward or just confusing. There's a lot of history that each of us carry around that's not always obvious until it is. I know that is a terrible sentence but thank you for bearing with me. But guys and gals, it's SO good when you can be honest with another person in a positive way. Be good to each other, y'all. It's the least thing and the best we can do for each other ❤️

Apparently there was some kind of race scheduled at a local park or something so I've been trying to avoid the main trail but a little while ago when I had to cross near it I overheard the following shouted exchange

Higher feminine voice: woo, look at you go! You're jogging! Keep it up!

Lower masculine voice (panting): you know it! Last place is still a place, baby!

And goddamn if that didn't rewire my brain a little bit.

With the world the way it is lately it feels kinda fucked up to still believe in hope.

I'm grateful that god knew what she was doing when she made me a fuck-up.
