Name: My name is Kelly Ann McCluskey.
Age: I am 20 years young.
Date of Birth: August 29, 1991
Family: My mother’s name is Susan Marie McCluskey, and she is married to my father, Timothy John McCluskey. I have two older, and less genetically gifted brothers (just kidding, they’re okay). The oldest is Kevin Ryan McCluskey, age 25, the other one, Bryan Patrick McCluskey, is 22 years old.
Family History: My dad’s dad, William McCluskey, and my dad’s mother, Helen McCluskey were born in St. Paul, MN; much like the rest of the paternal side of my family. My Grandpa Bill served as a marine in World War II, and later on supported his family as a factory worker at FMC, located in St. Paul. Both my mom and her parents, Jack and Dorothy Esler, were born in Princeton, MN. My grandparents lived on neighboring farms when they were growing up. After serving in the navy during the Korean War, my Grandpa Jack went to college to become a math and science teacher, and ended up spending most of his career teaching at Roseville Area High School.
Vision of the World/Future: I envision a world without wars. A world where Manhattan, most of Florida, many island nations and coast areas around the world are not underwater because of human ignorance. A world in which any person has the right to marry whomever they want, regardless of the sex of either person. A world where people understand and respect the notion that all pets are forever, and are not to be given up when you become bored with them. A world in which we model our government after Sweden’s.
Hopes and Ambitions: They are quite simple, I hope to find a job I love, get married to someone I love, and have children, that I will of course love. I also hope to have as many horses, dogs and cats that I can afford.
Pets: At the beginning of the school year, my dog of 14 years passed away. As of now, I am technically pet-less, but I do lease a horse. Most people think that is odd, but it works out perfectly for a college student. His name is Captain, registered name Seven S Music, he was born in Oklahoma and comes from a long line of successful cow horses, but he is a jumper at heart. Captain will be 14 years old in May, but he still has his spunky 3 year old moments. If you haven’t guessed it already, I can talk about this awesome horse all day.
Least favorite animals: I have a few least favorite animals. I dislike snakes, cockroaches and bats.
Friends: Nearly all my friends ride horses, surprise, surprise. My best friend is Amanda, we have known each other since we were in kindergarten.
Enemies: I wouldn’t really say that I have enemies, but I do have people who I like to pretend don’t exist.
Education: Well, I went to North St. Paul High School in North St. Paul, MN. I graduated in 2009 and began attending the University of Minnesota that same year. I am now a junior here at the U and I am majoring in Child Psychology and plan to get a masters degree, and maybe someday a doctorate in Child development.
Favorite thing to do: Ride, ride and ride some more, horses that is. I mainly jump my horse and I am currently taking weekly jumping/dressage lessons. I hope to someday do eventing shows with my own horse (eventing is a horse show in which riders and horses do dressage, cross-country and stadium jumping, your score for all three components are then combined).
Least favorite thing to do: I despise dusting, because of the fact that my allergies kick into overdrive when I do. I try to avoid it at all costs, and my nose, eyes and throat are thankful when I do.
“Pet Peeve”: I cannot stand obsessively loud chew-ers. I have to get away if I have the misfortune of being next to one.
Favorite Song: My favorite song/songs (as I might have more than one at a given time) are always changing. As of now I love the covers that Walk Off the Earth did of Goyte’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” and Rihanna’s “Cheers (Drink to That).”
Favorite Image: My best friend has awesome photography skills and I plan to fill my own house someday with many of her photos. This one is by far my favorite.
It is of our two horses, mine is the left one. They are best friends too.
Favorite Memory: I used to be on a Junior Equestrian Team at the barn I ride at. The biggest event of the year is when we would perform at the Minnesota State Fair on Labor Day. One year the Coliseum was completely full, I will never forget looking up at the massive crowd. It was one of the best rides of my life.
Worst Memory: One of my worst memories was watching my dog, Shiloh, being put to sleep last October. I miss that dog every day.
Home (House, Apt., Etc.): It is a house. I like it. I have my own room, bathroom and tack (meaning like saddles and bridles) room.
Hometown: I was born in St. Paul, MN. And I was raised in Maplewood, MN.
Job: I am Health Information Management Technician at Gillette Childrens’ Specialty Healthcare. I work with a lot of paper and come home with many paper cuts.
Love Interests: Besides my horse, my other love interest would be my boyfriend, Sam. He is a Wind Technician, he works 200 feet up in the air, 8 hours a day, 5, sometimes 6, days a week.
Biggest Fear: My biggest fear is losing someone I love, and being locked in a room with a snake, a cockroach or a bat. I also have a fear of being chased.
Most Embarrassing Moment: Anytime you fall off a horse in front of people is embarrassing. I have fallen off 3.5 times.
Best Moment: Laying in my hammock on a warm summer’s day.
Honest or Dishonest: Honesty is always the best policy.
Biggest Regret: “Forget regret, or life is yours to miss.” Song lyrics from the musical, Rent.
Biggest Mystery: What is the meaning of life? And why, no matter how many times you are told “careful that plate is hot,” do you still touch the plate?
Possessions: My grandmother’s first engagement ring, first meaning the one my Grandpa could afford when they first got married. The only diamond I would ever consider wearing. My saddle, it was the first big purchase I ever made.
Clothing: I enjoy comfort. I also enjoy, on occasion, looking put together.
Favorite Place: The barn I ride at is my favorite place to be.
Least Favorite Place: I dread going to the dentist office.
Have you moved around a lot? I was born and raised here in Minnesota and would prefer never to leave.
Vehicle: A 1999 Grand Am gets me where I need to go. I would love the new Chevy Volt. A Lexus LFA would be nice too, but the starting price on one is $375,000…
Quirks: I prefer frozen corn over cooked and I have never had a can pop, nor will I ever.
Hobbies: My hobbies include but are not limited to riding horses, spending as much time outside (weather permitting), reading, listening to music, keeping busy and trying my hardest to be happy.
Most Admirable Aspects: The attributes I deem most admirable are being kind, respectful, reliable, compassionate, and having a sense of humor.
Least Admirable Aspects: Being greedy, rude, and irresponsible is not good.
Miscellaneous Thoughts and Ideas? What if you replaced ‘i’ with ‘y’ and vice versa? What yf iou replaced ‘y’ wyth ‘i’ and vyce versa? Words would look so odd…
