I first drank Balvenie at Kintail Lodge in Scotland. I kept asking for something smooth and not peaty, but I hadn’t yet found a scotch I liked. When I told that to a bartender, he asked what other ones had given me and then scoffed. He gave me Balvenie. And it was fantastic.
.
And then a group of lovely people adopted me into their squad for the next few nights, discussing Harry Potter and the deeper sides of life while buying me Balvenie and refusing to let me pay for anything. And so Balvenie tastes like cool mist and new friends for me; it is a drink of joyous taste and warmth and reminiscing. That’s why it was my first reward to myself on completing 14 days (not concurrent) of not biting my nails.

Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair – Scotch

This lovely whisky is one that I enjoyed both as a straight sipper and as a mix with my easy mix of ginger ale, ice and bitters. The Ginger ale or Ginger beer combines with the slight spice, mellow earthy and sweet flavours. Rather spectacularly in my opinion.

Today was a short-staffed, crazy kids who tried to pull all their tricks, including a kid getting stuck in the elevator sort of day. And I decided to play soccer in the gym with the kids because the teams were uneven. That was fun, and I didn't jack up my ankle too much. But I'm definitely more tired. Bring on the good Scotch and happy music while I do my dishes because I am a responsible adult and shit.
