So today is the first day of#MarchMeetTheMaker2022 and I decided it was a good time to introduce myself and show my face to all you lovely people 🥰 It’s also time for me to embrace that my art and interests have changed since I made this account and that it’s ok to start heading in a new direction. In 2012, I had a job interview during which, I was told that my work wasn’t very arty. Exactly what every artist wants to hear! Within a week, I had committed myself to a year long challenge - to draw a house everyday for a year. I called the project Draw a City and posted diligently to a tumblr blog. After I had finished the project, and in the years that followed, I began to feel paralysed by the work I had made. I felt like I couldn’t draw in a different style and I shouldn’t draw anything else. I was the girl who drew houses, but I didn’t really want to be… I want to create big painterly landscapes and tiny detailed critters. I want to make things, and animate things, photograph things. I’d like to create in lots of different ways and explore different things. There are no rules we have to follow in art and it has taken me a while to learn that. It’s ok to be a little bit of everything ☺️ #goodbyedrawacity #marchmeetthemaker https://www.instagram.com/p/Cak5-HDK5Ek/?utm_medium=tumblr
