I love how everyone likes reading fics, something writers do for free, when they can or want to, but passively aggressively play content police of other people's writings.
I came into the fandom I am in right now quite literally leaving a war zone, thinking I would find more receptive people. People that let others write whatever they wanna write, how they want to, in peace. But apparently I was sorely mistaken.
If you want writers to keep writing things, to keep expressing themselves, and not just let fucking AI take over everything... How about letting people WRITE WHATEVER THEY WANT?! HUH?! Isn't that awesome? What a concept!
If you don't like whatever you read, if it doesn't fit your tastes... Move. Along. With. Your. Life.
Go read something else! Do something else! But nooo!
We live in the age we gotta make a callout post over everything! Calling people every name under the sun because weeee got offended. Because we couldn't move on! We got a gun behind our heads forcing us to read stuff we dislike!
Get a grip people. Please. You don't like it... Skip it. Don't read it, like you do to a song you dislike! Don't stop your whole life to express your outrage for a problem you, yourself, caused BY READING THINGS THAT OFFEND YOU SOMEHOW!
LEAVE PEOPLE TO WRITE WHAT THEY WANT! Unless of course, you would appreciate no one writing anything anymore because it pisses you off.
Wouldn't a world where everything just goes how we want be just amazing and peachy, huh?!
Just as an add on.
Before TYBW even started, people wrote Kenmayu how they wanted to. Here, on AO3, on FF.net... wherever.
They were free to do so, because Kenmayu isn't your most popular ship. I know, news flash. Kenmayu didn't have a lot of fics or art before... So.
I am grateful for the brave souls that wrote it before I did, it's because of them that I am even in the Bleach fandom right now. I am grateful people even had the passion and drive that I always lacked. No matter the content, I was, and I still am very grateful. Grateful that they kept this ship fucking alive so people could have enough content to complain about nowadays.
You think I am here to throw shade on people that were here before me? That quite literally helped bring me through a door I was hesitating to open due to previous terrible experiences? Nah son. Not me.
I respect writers even if their writing style doesn't match what I want to read. Because I am not entitled to it. I am not entitled to their kindness or their time
