yeah so i use goodnotes 6 (will post colourful notes later!!) in the free trial version. i'm on iPad mini 6 (it's a really good device) and apple pencil gen 2.
the goodnotes 6 on free trial has a three notebook limit and no sync options. these 2 are the only limitations. also, ai features in the free trial are limited but then again they're not of much use so don't worry about it much.
for college, it depends on ur degree whether u need a laptop or a tablet. i'm in computer science engineering, so i use my MacBook Air M1 (2020) and for notes (we hardly take them these days) i use my iPad mini 6. this fact really depends on ur degree. what are u pursuing?
