Google is all set to acquire Looker, an analytics startup for $2.6 billion
With an objective to provide improved solutions to its cloud customers, Google is all set to acquire Looker, an analytics startup. The deal has been finalized at $2.6 billion in an all-cash transaction, which is expected to be closed later this year after regulatory approvals. In a blog post, Google confirmed that Looker will be a part of the company’s cloud division once the deal closes. “The combination of Google Cloud and Looker will enable customers to harness data in new ways to drive their digital transformation,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO, Google Cloud.
This will be more of an extended relationship between Google and Looker, as both of them already have more than 350 joint customers. Looker’s chief executive officer, Frank Bien, the company’s executive team, and the organisation will join Google Cloud.
Heather Brunner, Chairwoman and CEO, WP Engine said, “The combination of Google Cloud and Looker will enable us to further accelerate our leadership as a WordPress digital experience platform,”
Looker, which was originally founded in 2012, is expected to expand Google Cloud’s existing set of services through its analytics platform that delivers applications for business intelligence and use-case specific solutions such as sales analytics, as well as a flexible, embedded analytics product to collaborate on business decisions.
