“Oh! Hello, Dropbox! How are your servers holding up? Well, I hope?”
Hey Google! Wikipedia told me that ‘octopi’ is an incorrect plural for ‘octopus’ and it should be ‘octopuses’ or the seldom-used ‘octopodes’. It says ‘octopi’ is based on a grammatical misunderstanding. What do you have to say to Wikipedia? Are they full of it or do you know best?
Anonymous User | Google;
Dear User, there is no one “right” answer per se. I am just a program that sifts through copious amounts of logged information that sometimes precursors several other programs and sites. All of this information is inputted by other Users and can sometimes either be accurate or inaccurate. I do my best to find the most common and accurate result.
Wikipedia is chock full of great information accumulated by several minds across many platform users and therefore, is quite useful. I will not say I know more or less than them on the matter at hand. I will give you the reasoning behind my use of the word “Octopi” instead of “Octopodes” though!
While the word “Octopus” is indeed of Greek origin, it has been a common misunderstanding in English speakers to default to Latin pluralization of many words regardless of origin due to their already heavy ties to Latin. English, in and of itself, is a hodgepodge language derived from many languages around it. It borrows several nouns from languages such as Japanese, Russian, Latin, Arabic and so on and so forth.
However, the use of “Octopi” while not wrong in commonplace language, is actually entirely wrong in a grammatical sense. As it is a Greek word being crudely altered by a Latin plural suffix.
So why might I use it regardless of that knowledge? Simply because it is more comfortable to hear and read for other users most of the time. I strive to bring accurate results but I also strive to do so in a comfortable manner when it comes to personally being asked. Octopi might not be “right” but it is certainly more commonplace than Octopodes or Octopuses.
I do hope this has been informative and to your satisfaction, user!
Hey Google! Can you tell me about cephalopods?
Anonymous User | Google;
Most certainly, user.
Cephalopods are an active predatory mollusk of the large class Cephalopoda, such as an octopus, squid or nautilus. They are exclusively aquatic and are characterized by bilateral body symmetry, a prominent head, and a set of arms or tentacles modified from the primitive molluscan foot.
Some notable Cephalopod classifications that are commonly spoken of by those who are interested in them are: Octopi, Mollusca, Cuttlefish and Giant Squids.
Primarily, these creatures are known for their several limbs, though it is a common misconception that they are all called “Tentacles.” An example of this fact is: Octopi have eight arms and Squid have eight arms and two tentacles.
An easy way to spot the difference is that arms have suckers along their entire length, while tentacles only have suckers at the tip.
I do hope these results are to your satisfaction, user. If you’d like to know anything else, please do not hesitate to inquire!
‘ i feel nothing at all, except for when i feel everything all at once. ’ ((google~))((from princebot))

“I.. Can understand that.” The program was all too familiar with that sense of detachment and sudden onslaught of confusing ‘feelings.’ He wasn’t used to them, was used to happy but nothing else. One or the other, but all at once and he was confused. “But you are not like me, Arley.” He knows the other is different, he always had been. Google was nothing if not analytic and keen on knowing his users. Arley was one of those users. “You feel much and often. If you’re not anymore then– that might be signs of an error in your systems.”

What Marketers Need to Know About the Changing Landscape of SEO & Search Marketing from Search Engine Land
Pure Michigan [through Google Glass]
Last week I drove up to northern Michigan with 15 of my friends for a camping/stargazing/exploring trip. We went ziplining, biking around an absolutely beautiful island, rock climbing, stargazing under the Perseids Meteor Shower, and watched massive cargo ships navigate the Soo Locks on the US-Canada border.
Glass made it ever so easy to capture it all (save for the stargazing).
It was a Pure Michigan weekend, through Glass.

De les van Google’s update
Google rules!
Goede zaken!
