While QR codes have become a marketer’s favorite tool for bridging the gap between online and offline marketing, on the other hand, we have a company that was started in 1998 and has become synonymous with the word internet today: Google. Needless to say, the impact of Google on today’s era is tremendous. Although Google Search Engine is by far the most well-known product by Google, there are other popular products by Google that are used by millions on a daily basis.

Now that we have established how QR codes, as well as Google services, have made their way into our day-to-day activities, a question that naturally follows would be: “What happens when QR codes are combined with Google services?” The answer is quite simple, with a combination of QR codes and Google services you would never have to find another way of file sharing ever again!

Spreadsheet Prototype

Been learning about psychology and economies at AIE in order to improve our skills as Game Designers.

In order to explore this more we have been creating prototypes of our own games so we can test the economy in the game.

I thought this would be a good chance to learn more about spreadsheets, specifically Google Sheets. The company I work at (Two Bulls) uses it for their test plans. Plus, since being able to code spreadsheets always seems to be a desirable skill.

It only took me the majority of 1 day to code the prototype, and only 4-5 hours to learn the language from scratch (Google Script - variation of Java Script). It might have even taken less time if I was familiar with Java Script.

Now it’s just balancing the game. Something which I personally find quite enjoyable!

"BREAK THE GRID"

In 2016 Google sponsored an unusual project in Brooklyn, New York. In partnership with Refinery 29, a leading digital media company focused on women, they brought together two artists who would otherwise probably never meet—Marina Esmereldo, an illustrator and designer from Brazil now splitting her time between London and Barcelona; and New York City designer, Mallory Heyer—and asked them to "hack" the pixel-like cells of Google Sheets to create a piece "celebrating women globally who break free of confined roles and ways of thinking." The bright and beautiful celebration of the diversity and strength of women, perhaps a more important message than anyone thought at the time, was installed on this wall at the corner of Bogart and Thames Streets by Colossal Media, a Brooklyn firm specializing in large-scale hand-painted murals. @marinaesmeraldo​  @meaowree  @refinery29​  @colossalmedia​
