It’s time to say Gmail good bye.
Since I got my Gmail account 14 years ago, I lost control over my emails. I never really thought why. But here are some ideas:
1. Amazon doesn’t want you to read books. It wants you to buy them. The way the web-site designed. The lists organized.
2. Gmail similarly designed not for you to be productive. It’s designed so you keep most of your emails. Google makes $100B+/year on tracking your every move. Gmail is a mess by design.
The latter I’ve discovered when I switched to macos Mail app. Apple cares about your productivity. You feel it. I started to gain control over my emails back.
However, the Gmails “Archive” feature still getting into the way. When you move an inbox email into one of your folders - Google archives it and keeps on it’s servers. Imagine that. And then you have a separate folder on your Mac that stores bunch of emails you can never sort or process. And then these emails being resurrected all of a sudden and flood your inbox again.
There is no work around this.
So, this was the last drop. And it feels good.
