That is precisely why I say they had no goddamn idea what story they were telling.
And like... it makes sense, doesn’t it? If you live in a patriarchal society, and you live in a system of misogyny, it’s expected you’ll reproduce it in your art.
What’s staggering is how they managed to nail down the heart of the issue, write a story about dismantling the system, AND STILL have no goddamn awareness of what they were writing.
Or, you know, I have zero access to the behind the scenes there. Maybe there were people in the original Madoka team who knew what they were doing; and they were not there to salvage the flaming garbage fire that is Rebellion.
Well, they can pry my 12-episode anime about lesbian love saving the day from my cold, dead hands :)
