The famous festivals in India is Janmashtami
There are numerous celebrations which are celebrated in specific areas of the Indian subcontinent, like Manipur, Assam, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and other regions.
Among them one of the famous festivals in India is Janmashtami also known as Krishna Jayanthi. All Hindus celebrate Janmashtami on the birth of Lord Shree Krishna. Shree Krishna was the son of Devaki and Vasudeva. Shree Krishna is considered as the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu Bhagwan. The birthday of Lord Krishna is celebrated in the month of July or August and according to hindu calendar this carnival is celebrated on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksh or the eighth day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadrapada.
Krishna was born in an era of chaos; around 5,200 years ago Shri Krishna was born in Mathura and he spent his childhood in Vrindavan and both the places are well known in the world.
Sri Krishna's birth in our world was to free the Earth from the evilness of devils. The actual celebration of Janmashtami takes place during the midnight as Sri Krishna is believed to be born on a dark, stormy and windy night to end the rule and violence of his uncle, Kansa.
In Maharashtra Janmashtami is also known as Gokulashtami. This day is celebrated in cities such as Mumbai and Pune, as Dahi Handi with enormous zeal and enthusiasm. People make a human pyramid by standing on each other and the top most person tries to reach the “handi” (a clay pot) filled with curd and aims to break it. This depicts Lord Krishna’s childhood and his love towards butter. Also dressing up young kids as Krishna or Gopis on Janmashtami festival is a popular Hindu tradition. On this auspicious day we prepare Load Krishna’s favorite sweets and savory dishes.
Maharashtrian believe that Gopal Kala is one of his favorite treats. Gopal kala is prepared using Poha, lahya, curd , pickels, cucumber, and fruits like apple, pomegranate (Dalimb) etc. Homemade star gives you recipe of Gopal Kala to make Krishna prasana.
