1: What book did you last finish? When was that?

The Master of Mankind by Aaron Bembski Bowden like…a month or so.

The Path of Heaven by Chris Wraight

6: Which book was the last one you really, really loved?

Maybe not loved it, but  I enjoyed The Master of Mankind a lot. I know it’s a cheesy one but loved it with my heart probably Thud! by Terry Pratchett, because it was the last book I read of him before he died and I’m not ready yet to finish the ones that left me, because, my life will never be the same if I didn’t have another Pratchett’s book to read.

The Lord of the Rings and Guards! Guards?!

27: If you could change one thing about mainstream literature what would you change? (i.e. more diversity, better writing, better plot etc.)

Never let a youtuber write a book. Like, NEVER.

35: Name a book you consider to be terribly underrated

The Geralt of Rivia saga. People only knew about the videogame which, it’s a good videogame, but it’s not so good at the adaptation kinda like the shitty hellhole that is the HBO series Game of Thrones, while the books are good (terribly slow, but good). In a side note, I’m going to kill the author for letting the series exist and end before the books.

38: What language do you (most often) read in?Spanish, but for the currently neverending saga I’m involved in, I bury myself deep in english, because the translation it’s usually late and terrible (the translators do their job but the company explodes the workers and they didn’t do previews or checks or something, because they are with years of delay and want the books yesterday).

47: What do you do to get out of a reading slump?

Comics usually, specially of the superhero genre.

hi molly! public is fine! I feel like I'm super stuck because I'm doing computer science-y things but I want to do more art stuff, like writing and visual arts, but I'm bad at both of those things and want to learn more. I hate my current job and want to have more creativity in my job but I don't know if I should stay this course or not! I kind of want to abandon ship and start over by doing a journalism degree or going to art school, but I also don't want to, yknow, starve... any advice??

woof. that’s a big question, and not one i’m sure i can really help you with. my tentative advice would be: do some informational interviews with people in the fields you’re thinking about before you go back to school. talk to some journalists, talk to some people who do graphic design, talk to people who do, i dunno, whatever other things you’re into. i am always on board for people who want to do new things and quit jobs they hate, but i, too want you to be able to eat. 

i’m definitely not going to tell you to stay in a job that makes you miserable, though. i think it’s fine to have a job you’re not passionate about, but if it’s something that’s really dragging down your quality of life and you have the opportunity to change it but just need someone to tell you to be brave, then this is me telling you to be brave! if you’re really not sure, i say reach out to some people whose work you like and seems interesting and see if they’ll talk to you (or email with you, if you prefer) about what it is they do and what advice they have.

when i was at my first job post-undergrad, i hate hate hated it. like, every day there was miserable. i applied for a bunch of other stuff and really explored a LOT of different options–i looked into going back to school to be a historian, being a marketing director, a translator, a copywriter, an administrative assistant. just poke around and see what strikes you. take it slow, if you can, so that you don’t jump from one thing to another thing that you also hate.

the good news about jobs is you have the rest of your life to find something you like. the bad news about jobs is also that you have the rest of your life to find something you like. <3

no worries, that’s totally understandable!!! he’s from my fic, targeting, aka the football au.

he’s Isaiah Bradley, who is a character from marvel comics, also known as “the black captain america.” he was a WWII-era super soldier borne of some rly racist experiments by the government to recreate steve rogers’ serum. also, in the comics, he’s eli bradley/patriot’s grandfather.

in my fic, isaiah is steve’s roommate and the team’s running back. i also gave him the nickname “ice” because “isaiah” seemed like a lot for football players to throw around all day every day.

if i’m honest, the isaiah bradley in targeting is baaaaasically an OC in all but name. i really like isaiah and eli bradley, and wanted to include them, but they blossomed w/ this backstory that has nothing to do with canon.

Nico’s right arm was moved from his head before he realized it was happening. Gentle hands cupped his face, tilting it up. Nico opened his eyes once more and saw the face of his mother in front of him. His sight was blurry from the tears, but he could still see the concern in her gaze.

It utterly confounded him. In the almost twelve years of his life, Nico had never seen her direct that gaze at him.

He could see her falter the moment their eyes met. She lowered her gaze, then closed her eyes. After a moment, she took a breath and looked back up at Nico with determination. She murmured to him, “Come on. Let’s get you to bed.”
