Here are 4 reasons why Hisoka is NOT a p*dophile.
1. He’s not sexually interested in kids
Proof:
A predator usually leans more to the young than grown adults.
The only sexual straightforward comment that he made was to Machi. An adult.
In the anime, he asks her on a dinner date while in the manga he asks her to sleep with him for the night.
2. He stared at Gon and Killua’s butts so he could talk with Goreinu
Proof:
That action was in itself an excuse to be in front so he could privately speak with Goreinu.
He went in front to tell Goreinu he knows a good place to look for players who don’t need cards like him.
Since Goreinu didn’t know Hisoka like Gon and Killua did, he would agree with Hisoka’s idea and they would waste more time as the magician wanted.
Hisoka chose to talk in front so that Gon, Killua and Bisky don’t listen to them.
They were suspicious about his actions but they weren’t 100% sure what Hisoka was exactly doing.
If you don’t remember why he did that, it was because he was aware the boys knew a Nen exorcist was in the game and they were close to finding out who the exorcist was with.
Hisoka didn’t want to act suspicious towards them (especially to Killua since he’s well observing) so he did what they would think his personality would be about. Being a creep by staring at their butts.
It was only when they got to the City of Romance, that Killua finally figured out Hisoka was truly wasting their time.
3. He did a r*pe hand sign so that Killua could see how close Illumi actually was.
Proof:
Hisoka said he didn’t want Killua nor Gon to die.
This means he wants Nanika to arrive on time for Gon.
At some point, Killua lost sight of Illumi’s location so Hisoka made a r*pe sign to Illumi in hopes that his bloodlust will warn Killua how close he is.
He chose this method because he knows how much Illumi cares for Killua (in his own way) so if he ever wanted to offend him in any way he would have to use Killua as a way to get a reaction from him.
4. His way of thinking is a childish but deadly one.
Proof:
The whole reason why he gets excited (if you know what I mean) is based on his opponents’ fighting skills.
Whether they are female or male, young or old, he doesn’t look at that.
He studies your movements as well as your fighting skills to see if you’re strong to fight him so that he can beat you.
To give you a much more simplistic idea, Hisoka sees the world as a toy store and you’re a toy yourself.
He will look through every row and section of the store to see who looks the prettiest or which one looks the coolest (strongest in this context) depending on his standards.
When he fights his opponents, he doesn’t seek any sexual desires to be in bed with them.
On the contrary, he seeks the pleasure of fighting them to the death.
Not even once do you hear him say he wants to sleep with them.
(Machi is the only exception: she’s not in his imaginary toy box and he tried to date/sleep with her. The one who looks like her was Silva because the hairstyle and bangs correspond to him. The manga also shows Silva. The color changes in the anime were a mistake on the animation team.)
Granted he says he can’t wait to ‘break Gon’ but we all know what he truly means.
He sees people as toys.
If he plays too rough with them they’ll eventually break and he’ll find another toy to play with.
Now replace the word ‘toy’ with ‘person’.
That’s how his mind functions.
Conclusion
Hisoka is obsessed with Gon not because he’s a child, but because he has so much potential. He saved him by distracting Illumi, he spared him during the hunter exam two times, he told him and Killua when they would be ready to learn Nen and he helped them win Razor’s dodgeball game.
All for the sake of fighting him one day.
His way of helping Gon looks clearly wrong in our perspective as well as the people around him.
He doesn’t care what anyone thinks simply because he loves what he’s doing: fighting strong people.
So no. Hisoka is not an actual p*dophile.
He simply loves to fight.
