*Fun Fact: The Grimms basically just collected a bunch of German folk tales. The first publication was way darker than the second (and subsequent) publications. Most of the time, the stepmother figure in many of the folk tales was originally the mother. :o Also, folk tales were often designed to warn children of dangers and to instill positive values or discourage negative ones (like the evil queen’s vanity in Snow White).
