Obi-Wan is only passively pretending to be interested in Old Yesteryear.
It is only right to do cursory research into the customs and history of the planet he has found himself on, of course, but his enthusiasm is dimmed by the circumstances through which he found himself here. For all that it has given him, it also took away so very much. The sting is not so easily moved beyond, especially without the Force here to guide the release of any lingering bitterness.
He tells himself that putting in an effort will make him feel better. It doesn't, really. He follows a good distance behind a tour group of denizens, hands folded into his robes, politely attentive but not with half as much diligent focus as he otherwise would. As the group moves on, he lingers behind with a couple of them, gazing pensively at the unremarkable brick building before them.
The denizen beside him mistakes his struggle to find interest as deep contemplation and turns to him. They didn't catch the last part, just then, they say; what was the purpose here? Why did it matter? The look Obi-Wan gives them asks in return do you really think I know. Do you really think I care. But alas, the life of a Jedi is always one of service to the people, always and forever.
Oh, he says. Well. It was an early vehicle manufacturing plant, years and years in the past. The first in the city. It matters because... and so on and so forth. The denizen seems appeased enough by the response and turns away quickly, but not before a voice chimes in from over Obi-Wan's shoulder.
"Well, actually—"
He turns. Arches his brows. He has been corrected. As if he does not know the intricacies of early technological development after having been on countless missions to countless planets just like this one. "I'm sorry?"
