I feel like Game of Thrones is that friend who you've loved so much and shared so much with, that then went on to treat you like shit and hurt you. Even the brightest memories kinda hurt.

I'd still recomend you watch it, 'cause the first seasons are amazing and it's made television history... but you can only get your heart broken once. So watch it once, and don't rewatch it.

Wait for the kinder, prettier sister, the books, that will probably never come tho.

The Meaning of Podrick’s Song

In season 8 episode 2 of Game of Thrones, Podrick sings a song a Tyrion’s request, & it’s actually a song from the books that could mean a lot! - The song Pod sings is called “Jenny’s Song” about a woman named Jenny of Oldstones, for whom a Targaryen prince, Duncan Targaryen, gave up the the Iron Throne (Duncan is Daenerys’ great uncle)  He married her for love, against his father’s wishes, losing his place in the line of succession. He was supposed to rule instead of his brother, the Mad King. - Duncan was a dark-haired Targaryen (called Duncan the Small), and his mother came from a family that worshipped “The Old Gods” and are descendants of the First Men, similar to the Starks. - Jenny of Oldstones “was also friends with a witch who prophesied that the prince that was promised would be born from the line of Prince Aerys (The Mad King) and Princess Rhaella” - Does this all sound familiar or important?👀 - But still, the song is known to be a sad one in Westeros. Why? Not because it talked about their love, but Jenny’s LOSS of her love, Duncan died in a fire in the Targaryen castle of Summerhall. So the lyrics sort of speak of her as aghost wandering the halls of the castle where she lost her loved one, clinging onto them. Also in the books, it’s a song that’s connected to Rhaegar (many think it’s the song he sang that causes Lyanna to fall in love with him) - At the end of it, what could this all mean? Could it represent Jon giving up crown as King in the North for Daenerys? Or does it foreshadow something that could happen towards the end of the show?👀Perhaps one of them gives up their final shot at the crown for the other? One of them being the Prince/Princess that was promised? We know what happened in the season 8 finale but could the books be different? Could it represent Daenerys’ ghost wandering the halls of the Great Hall where she lost everything she ever wanted? - Side-note: Costume designer Michele Clapton has said that she included motifs of Duncan & Jenny’s story to Sansa’s wardrobe since early in the series, to sort of symbolize Sansa wanting Prince Joffrey to marry her when she was younger & have a romance like Jenny & Duncan.

Do people honestly not get that it’s symbolic?

Sansa’s not actually GIVING Winterfell to Daenerys.  Ned said the same thing to Robert in the first episode.  Bobby B didn’t pack Winterfell up in his carry-on and take it back to King’s Landing with him. Sansa is giving Dany access to Winterfell, she’s basically telling her “be our guest”.     

And everyone seems to fail to notice that Sansa is the one in charge who is giving the access to Dany, not Jon. Sansa is being recognized as the Lady of (authority over) Winterfell.

When Game of Thrones was just an idea in the magnificent mind of George RR Martin, it was a lot different that the epic story we have today. But in 1993 he had a rough idea of what the story would be like when pitching the story to publishers. Since it’s extremely different I thought it might be fun to take a look at what his original ideas for the series looked like. - Though there were many similarities, I’ll mainly be saying the extreme differences in the plan for the first book: . - Sansa marries Joffrey & has a son . - Robb won many victories, & even maimed Joffrey on the battlefield, but Robb ultimately died in battle against Jamie & Tyrion. Tyrion ended up burning Winterfell . - Catelyn, Arya, & Bran escaped King’s Landing & went to the wall but the Night’s Watch wouldn’t help them so they sought refuge from wildlings. Catelyn ended up being killed by the White Walkers. - Arya & Jon (still a Targaryen raised by Ned) fell in love . - Khal Drogo kills Viserys, but Drogo gets killed by Daenerys who was avenging her brother. She eventually finds dragon eggs/a dragon (unclear), commands the Dothraki army & begins her plan to invade Westeros . - Tyrion was exiled but continued to plot, eventually removing Joffrey as king . - Jamie succeeded Joffrey on the Iron Throne, by killing everyone ahead of him in the line of succession, & framing Tyrion for the murders . - Tyrion eventually sides with the Starks, against his family, & falls in love with Arya though she doesn’t feel the same about him . GRRM has said that he never planned every single element to the story but had an overall structure & knew the fates of his characters. His initial structure had 5 key characters who would make it out alive: Daenerys, Jon, Arya, Sansa, Bran, & Tyrion. - I’ll end this post with a quote from GRRM included the plan that still holds up today with GOT/ASOIAF: “I want the reader to feel that no one is completely safe, not even the characters who seem to be heroes. […] any character can die at any time” - What do you think? 👀
