Okay... so this is right up my alley. More weird whimsy and quirk in the romance genre... and more jaded suffer-no-fools women, instead of the creepy age-gaps, please and thank you

Penelope (2006)
i just finished the shakespeare in the park twelfth night and i'm going insane. oh my god viola switching from swahili to english to herself in the first scene then fully getting her language back as she gets her brother back in the very end. viola and sebastian set apart from the others together in their own shared language. malvolio trapped in a cross shaped box and burned by the sparks every time feste raised his hands. the ableism inherent in their ridicule of malvolio, like the net being played for laughs but being only possible because he's a little person. sandra oh's olivia is the perfect level of unhinged and dramatic & i CAN'T stop thinking about her delivery of "OHH WONDERFUL" at the reveal of sebastian and viola, and her face after being told she would've married a man and a maid. genuinely the most rich and hilarious olivia i've ever seen. orsino's entourage of & his giant face on the wall & EVERYTHING from the gym bro intro scene to the massage to the ass slap to his and olivia's fist bump in the end sent me. viola RAPPING her monologue to olivia and feste singing and ohhhh my god feste..... his guitar and incredible singing voice and everything about him... the insane costumes they brought out just for the curtain call & ending with everyone singing the wind and the rain... i'm going to lose my mind. go watch this right fucking now on pbs before it's too late. i'm not asking
