Got Coffee? || Esther & Elektra
The phone was ringing. The phone was ringing and Elektra was fairly certain she was going to kill it. A hand managed to untangle itself from the mess of blankets, limbs, and hair that the assassin currently occupied and grabbed for the damn thing. It was a serious internal debate on whether to fling it across the room or answer it, but eventually she settled on flipping it open and answering.
"Talk. Quickly." Her voice was groggy, but no less threatening for it. Possibly more threatening for the grogginess.
"And good morning to you too, sunshine," The amusement evident in the caller's tone did little to sooth Elektra's groggy irritation- especially given the complete lack of fear there as well.
Rather than dignifying that with a proper response, she growled into the phone and burrowed herself back under the covers. Her knuckles protested being moved yet again and Elektra winced at the cracking feeling as she bent her fingers. Didn't actually remember to patch them up after beating up her punching bag until enough of her nervous energy was worked off so she could sleep, apparently. Which was never a good sign for her sheets and blankets, given her restless version of sleep. Probably would be bloodstains to clean up later. McCabe knew about her tendencies not to sleep, but insisted on calling her regardless, the bastard. "Do you have a contract?"
"Not qui- no, Elektra, don't hang up yet!" Her finger hovered over the end call button and she growled a little again, annoyed that she was so predictable.
"What could you possibly be bothering me about then?"
"Matchmaker hasn't gotten back to me yet, but you were talking about staying in New York for a bit, weren't you? And I know just the place for you to get some real coffee. They even have pastries."
Low blow, he knew how much she loved bakeries. Elektra stared sullenly at the phone before hauling herself up, switching him to speaker while she admitted defeat and got ready for the day, "....talk."
She let him babble about suggestions for where she go, where she eat, things like that as she dressed- McCabe had been bothering her for ages about taking some time for herself, indulging in actually looking around the places her contracts took her instead of constantly moving around. Clearly he was hoping New York would be different so long as she stayed- but perhaps he had a point. And she really did need to find someplace with some good coffee.
Soon enough, Elektra found herself standing outside the Ninth Street Espresso Café, a bit wary of the location despite McCabe's assurances. Too close to "heroes" for her taste, but it wasn't as though too many knew her face as of yet- maybe she'd get lucky. She entered cautiously all the same, raising her sunglasses as she glanced around, walking up to the counter to look over the menu. Seeing an elderly woman nearby, Elektra smiled politely, figuring to ask someone who looked as though she knew what was going on. "I apologize if I'm bothering you, but I was wondering if you had a coffee recommendation?"
