Can’t believe I thought this episode would hurt me emotionally. This was legit just them being idiots
why do people like taking advantage of nice people?
I feel like an idiot...I just got duped by my neighbors (an elderly couple)...they so played on my emotions...which is just really wrong, right?
Ugh...that's it; I'm not being nice anymore.
How you ask, I got duped? Well the lady, we'll call her Jane, called me and told me that her son just had a baby and she really wanted to go see the baby. But because it's a 100 miles away she didn't feel comfortable driving that distance and her husband had a stroke a few years ago so he cannot drive. She asked if I'd drive her part of the way and then her son would meet up with us. Tomorrow's not a good day for me, but I thought...it's their first grandbaby and I should help. So I told her I'd do 65 miles of the drive, but because of my kids schedules I wouldn't be able to go the whole way. She called her son...his exact words, "Well if she can bring you 65 miles, why not just bring you the whole way?" So when Jane told me that, I'd pretty much made up my mind to say no cause that's just rude. But then she started telling me about how she really wanted to see the baby. UGH...that's where she got me. And I couldn't say no. So I told he I could take her there, but wouldn't be able to stay more than an hour. You will not believe what she told me. And again I quote..."Oh that's great. Just get us there. We'll get a car service or get our daughter to drive us back."
Daughter? Really? So I asked, "I thought she moved away."
Turns out that not only does Jane have a daughter who lives 30 miles from her, but has ANOTHER son who lives 45 miles from us. All in the direction of the hospital that is 100 miles away.
THAT IS JUST WRONG!!!!
When I told my husband, he made me practice saying the word 'no' for half an hour...ugh!!!!!
