I stan Simpleman as dumb fun.

What can I say? Roland making everybody dumb as rocks is the kind of ludicriousness this show thrives on.

That said, it would've been extra crazy if Ladybug decided it was too complicated with just her and Chat's powers before giving the kids some Miraculous. Specifically the Dog, Rooster, Goat and Ox as a sort of psuedo-preview of the Penalteam Four.

Teens with Miraculous can get hectic but little kids with more power than they know what to do with would really be a hoot.

Different anon but re: Simpleman hate.

The hate had less to do with the episode itself and more towards Astruc's behavior around it and what he revealed about it.

Long story short, Astruc a tantrum because no one really cared about the episode and claimed that we are all to stupid for not realizing how meta it was. He then proceeded to mock anyone that wanted clarification. Eventually, someone figure it out that the reason it was meta was because it was let another “critics can suck it” episode

Oh I knew about that. That's just Thomas being fuckass again, and it was subtle enough to ignore, unlike Animaestro or Queen Banana.

When an episode about a man who wants to simplify things ends up having a simple plot with simple interactions and nothing surprising or special in it

like, yeah, we talked about it before but adrien’s fondness towards marinette when she’s not making any sense at all and the way he only interrupts her when he feels like she’s being unfair to herself (”no, marinette, i’m the one who should be thanking you”)... adrinette is so, so soft.
