-- Jason paused for a moment. This was the first time he was getting a proper look at Tan's eyes. They were different; subtly so. One is just a few shades lighter than the other. It was actually rather pretty in this light.

The injury, fortunately, did look like it wasn't too serious. He nodded slightly, mostly to himself, before speaking. "Concussions can be pretty severe. I wanted to check in on you since I dropped you off at the clinic. How're you feeling?"

-- It was supposed to just be a quick trip to the store. In and out and back before Weylon caught him out and about. He was not expecting to see someone being interrogated by the library. He frowned, slowing his pace to watch for a moment. This guy seemed pushy, but the one he was talking to seemed apathetic at best. Maybe they'd be alright.

When they tried to walk past the guy and got blocked, Roy acted. He broke into a jog to come up behind the guy with a cheery smile. He threw on his best Wally West impression and threw in a little RuPaul to sell the bit. "There you are!"

He brushed past the guy and moved rather pointedly between him and the one he had been trying to accost. "I've been waiting for you! C'mon, let's get going, yeah?" He turned now, and then paused, as if just not recognizing that there was someone else there. "Oh..." He gave the guy a proper once-over before his smile turned a little coy. "Who's this fine figure of a man you were hiding from me?~."

If that didn't scare him off, he had other things up his sleeve. Like a metal fist. But guys like this hated getting a taste of their own medicine, so he wasn't expecting to have to do much more than that.

-- Tim smiled as Tan tucked the flower behind their ear. "I saw a vendor on the street selling them, and that one reminded me of you." He leaned on his cane a little, letting it take the weight off of his "still recovering" legs as best he could.

"How have you been? I haven't had the chance to stop by and check on things since we talked last."

-- It was fast. A flashfire of rage that boiled the blood in his veins and made his lip curl in a snarl. He had been fine just a few minutes before, nothing out of the ordinary. There was no warning, no tell-tale heartbeat before the surge. There was just--

Pain Rage Fear Fury Panic

It stole the breath from his lungs and the warmth from his face as adrenaline took the place of any semblance of rational thought. Normally, he wouldn't care so much about it. He would do what he needed to do, and whoever got scared of him would know not to fuck around. But he wasn't in his usual locations. He wasn't around other criminals.

He was here, in Tan's apartment. Tan, an innocent bystander in this world of death, darkness, and superheroes. Tan, who had no idea what Jason really was or why they should be so afraid of him. Tan, who had been looking out for him in their way for weeks now.

Tan, who had just gotten too close.

He gritted his teeth so hard his jaw hurt as he forced his arms not to move. His body was barely under his own control. He wanted to hurt, to lash out, to bleed, fight, kill. But he held on to what slim thread of consciousness he still had. He couldn't hurt them; wouldn't hurt them.

"M'fine." He hissed through clenched teeth, turning his body away from Tan's touch. "Should go. Now." He wanted to try to go to the window, to leave down the fire escape and let off steam like he usually did. But his legs felt like electrified steel. One wrong move and he'd explode in the wrong way.

Moving just one step felt herculean, and he only made two strides before he had to stop himself to try and wrest control of himself away from the blinding wave that had overtaken his senses. He had to focus, damnit! He couldn't let this shit affect Tan. They deserved better than this shit.

-- Jason couldn't help the smirk that played across his lips as he felt those hands fist in his shirt. He let them tug him closer, his head tipping casually to one side as they spoke. "Let me ask you this, Tan." His voice was low, rumbling deep in his chest. A hand carefully slid calloused fingers along their side, down to their hip, where he held, tugging them against him.

"How serious do you want me to be?"

-- Tim stretched his hands over his head, groaning slightly. His back was complaining already, and it wasn't going to stop any time soon.

"Late night. I've got a lot to catch up on, apparently." True enough statement, at least. "Thanks for waking me up." He shot them a smile. "Sorry for passing out in your library like that."

-- Cold. Why was he so cold? He tried to open his eyes, but it felt like there was something stuck to his eyelids? What was going on? He flexed his fingers, trying to drag his hands to his face to see what was happening. Fingertips touched his eyelids and he felt...something under them. He had to pull on his eyelashes to get his eyes open, but... It was still dark? He tried to look around but then....

Snap. Clang. Cackle. Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.

Oh God what had happened, where was he?!

He tried to open his mouth to scream, but something pulled angrily at the insides of his jaw. It was wired shut.

Panic started to sink in now. His hands reached up, scrabbling at the darkness in front of him and only feeling wood. A box. A coffin. He screamed louder, though his mouth refused to open as his nails dug into wood, tearing splinters away. He had to get out, get out get out get out get out get ou--

He shot upright with a gasp, his hand reaching for a gun that wasn't there. This wasn't his room. His breath came ragged, his eyes wild, and his face more pale than the sheets that were stained with sweat. He looked around, quickly finding things in the darkness to remind him that he wasn't in his grave. He was above ground.

A hand on his shoulder made him turn quickly, and before he could even really register what he was doing, he was holding them, burying his face against their neck and breathing in their warmth and their scent. They were familiar now, safe.

He was safe.
