*indulging in music from new favorite musician*
Me: OMFG that voice... I'm melting! UNNNFF so sexy... reminds me of the singer of that one band that I also always quite liked... hm... hm... :3
- turns out he IS the singer of "that one band I always quite liked" now doing his solo thing... #jackpot
(and while we're at it: you should totally check out Felix Marc and his Band Frozen Plasma *wink wink*)
GOTHIC DANCE!!
Gothic bellydance (by rainasan2)
This is what I imagine gothic belly dance to look like. THIS. It's beautiful.
So frustrated
In most cases, the girls are either not very talented, aren't doing as much to make it interesting for the audience, or are using it as practice for bondage.
The second category frustrates me because there is so much potential for this genre of dance, and they're wasting it.
The third category makes me sick, because belly dance is liberating for women (and the men brave enough to try). And seeing these women dressed up in faux leather wrappings you'd see on the dancers at an underground club makes me sick. Because I feel like this is merely objectifying these women, and reverting them back to sex toys instead of fierce independent women reveling in the joys of dance.
That's not to say there aren't good gothic dancers out there. There's a video on youtube of a girl named Sasha. I find her to be beautiful and doing great things for gothic belly dance. But I feel like this genre isn't meeting its full potential, but is more a practice in learning how to strip tease.
Blech. Fuck shit, let's go dancing.
