I have a headcanon that Dagoth Ur contacted Gothren like he did with Orvas Dren. Not to do something, but rather to be a roadblock and keep the Telvanni from interfering with his plans.

While it's probably just a mistake, Senise Thindo who wears the Drake's Pride knows these spells that are related to corprus. If anyone should be involved with the Sixth House it's her. I like to think she got the robe as reward for her dealings with them.
