I love this post from👍🙌💪👏👊 @highvolthannah Here's one for ya... Since I started this trade it really became apparent to me how assertive men are about what they want/need. Ordering parts, speaking to a customer, speaking to another tech, etc. I thought I was assertive until I started working with men all day everyday. I realized I was considered assertive "for a woman" (whatever that means) but compared to my boss and the guys I work with, not so much. I've really changed how I handle people in the workplace, as well as in my personal life. It is actually incredible how assertive most men are 100% of the time, even when what is coming out of their face is absolutely incorrect and completely ignorant. While they are doing that they make me somehow feel like I am wrong while I am trying to give them the correct information as they talk overtop of me. Everyday this is a decreasing issue because my confidence is going up and my tolerance is going down. I speak loud, clearly, and I know when the customer I am speaking with doubts me and asks to speak to my boss, he says "talk to Hannah she will take care of you." Having a boss that has your back makes all difference in the world, as does speaking with full confidence. Talk over top of me? I'll talk louder. Parts guy wants to tell me a Hyundai doesn't have a turbo? Guess what buddy I'm looking at the car. Customer is standing in front of the tire machine talking to his buddy and I'm trying to work? "Excuse me sir" goes to "hey I'm trying to do a job here" real quick. I ain't a bitch, I'm just a woman that's got shit to do. #notabitch #gotshittodo #stayoutofmyway #girlswhowrench #femalemechanic #mechanicproblems #justdoingwhatiwannado #femcanicgarage https://www.instagram.com/p/B5n_IDfA54m/?igshid=8jan6gbsbnm
