you told her friends her face said it all.

you told your friends she was asking for it.

it was an invitation.

you said her smile was waiting to be taken.

advantage of

you said your mind drew up fantasies

of her body before you even

got her clothes off.

what were you supposed to do?

you were simply moving how

a man was conditioned to move.

“boy will be boys” was the excuse you used.

you said it wasn’t your fault

her eyes seduced you.

the way she laughed at your jokes

& showed gratitude to your compliments

thinking that meant

she wanted you.

but her face never said anything at all.

her smile was simply out of kindness

to show politeness because she knew

if she rejected you your ego would

become enflamed & reveal your ugliness.

her eyes were glazed with fear. defence.

she laughed at your ignorance

hoping you would leave.

thanked your compliments praying she could

leave her seat with relief

but you grabbed & persisted

& when she resisted your entitlement alarm

started singing

& her rape alarm was ringing

bringing attention to the rest of the room.

so you waited for her use of the restroom

followed her & “took what she owed you”.

her face.

her eyes.

her smile.

her laugh.

didn’t tell you a damn thing.

you’re just another man who through all will of your own can’t spell consent

or refuses to acknowledge it

& thinks every woman owes you everything.
