Are Analissa and Anabel are parallel universe versions of the same person? (I'm sleepy, please forgiveeeeee.)
Well, I do forgive you because I suppose I haven’t talked about Annalissa a whole lot, so if you look at the names they do appear to be similar, but they really aren’t. n_n; They do have their similarities, in that they’re good at wielding a sword, have mothers who went insane, and generally do their best but…that’s about where it ends. Annalissa is a lot more reckless than Anabel is; Ana would never run headfirst into a fight with a dragon screaming defiance, but Lissa absolutely would. Lissa also has a lot more inner demons (which is saying something, considering Ana…literally has an inner demon). Ana blankly denies that which is dark about herself, secure in her sense of honor and duty, whereas Lissa is a lot more rudderless and spends every day trying not to drown in her self-doubt. Lissa has been forced to make decisions and live through things that Ana would have nightmares about. Anabel has a flawless sense of her place in the world and absolute faith in her path, whereas Lissa has screamed at the Maker and found only silence, sooooo…Ana’s faith is a wellspring, giving her strength in times of need, whereas Lissa’s is a crutch that becomes more unsteady every day.
In short, there is a weakness to Lissa that Ana doesn’t share. However, Lissa’s gone through a lot more than Ana has, and she’s also won and lost a lot more than Ana has. I think Lissa would respect Ana if they ever met, but Ana’s naive in a lot of ways, which Lissa would kinda pity. Ana would win a sparring match against Lissa, though. n_n
02. Best friend: In canon, Fire Mage, of course. In AUs, the title would be split between the FM and Aerith, bc. adorable book buds for the win.
03. Sexuality: I’m just gonna put no here. I mean, after learning more about asexuality, I’m nervous that defining Bryan as such would be a cop-out because while he does have a low interest in sex and hasn’t really experienced sexual attraction, that’s less as a result of who he is as a person and more of a result of successive traumatic experiences that have permanently impaired his ability to invest in others emotionally and physically. Asexual people aren’t broken, but Bryan very much is, so I feel as if it would be a misnomer to categorize him as asexual. *shrugs*
04. Favorite color: He actually likes shades of deep green and pure white. The forest in winter is his favorite place to be.
05. Relationship status: Single and deathly afraid of mingling.
06. Ideal mate: Probably someone who would be perfectly content with drinking tea in his company and listening to him ramble. Bryan’s mental state can be safely compared to that of an easily-startled rabbit; he’ll duck and hide at the slightest sign of aggression, but once he’s used to a person he’ll snuggle right up. So…probably someone who’s very patient as well, and doesn’t ask a lot of him. :)
07. Turn-ons: Eugh, this is weird – I don’t associate Bryan with sexual attraction at all, so I’d have to say that in terms of turn-ons, he doesn’t really have any?? I mean, he doesn’t really get turned on. XD In terms of actions that he likes and that make him want to stay around people, he’s most comfortable being spoken to in a gentle, non-aggressive tone. Sharp words tend to tax his nerves, but it’s relaxing to listen to someone with a calming voice.
08. Favorite food: He’s seriously fond of cinnamon stick tea, which he hasn’t had in a while because none grows in the forest and he hates to ask the FM for things.
09. Crushes: He doesn’t have any currently – in fact, I’m not sure if he ever had any romantic crushes. He did see people that he really wanted to be friends with though, if that counts. :)
10. Favorite music: Birdsong is actually enough for him. People say he’s a good singer, but he doesn’t think anything he can sing is nearly a match for what nature can produce. Which might be the most hipster thing I’ve ever written unironically.
11. Biggest fear: He’s not really afraid of a lot at this point, but he really doesn’t like the idea of living in a world without the FM. He doesn’t know what he’d do with himself.
12. Biggest fantasy: Going non-sexual on this, being that Bryan’s a non-sexual person (which is hilarious, considering he’s easily the most attractive of my OCs). His biggest fantasy is having things continue as they are. He isn’t stupid – he knows the world is breaking and his greatest dream is that its breaking won’t harm what he has. He would actually be pretty happy if life was an eternal summer evening, chatting with the Fire Mage over tea.
13. Bad habits: I would say snapping and murdering people in cold blood is a pretty bad habit. He needs to find a middle ground between ‘upset’ and ‘murder’.
14. Biggest regret: Not leaving the Institution sooner. He always knew he wasn’t meant for that place of invisible chains, but hesitated in leaving because he still had hope for some form of acceptance. Now that he’s out and so much happier with where he is, he just wished he’d left earlier in his life, before the blood on his hands meant sending Gog away.
15. Best kept secrets: Well, he hasn’t gone into his one and only highly traumatic sexual experience with anyone, which is only positive because he really doesn’t want to talk about it. I personally find it highly problematic that no one in his life (*stares accusing at Ellis bc shit man shiiiit*) ever asked.
16. Last thought: Well, okay.
17. Worst romantic experience: Do you honestly want to hear about this? I don’t have anything funny or nice for this. Usually I can do funny or nice but this is not…either of those. I don’t even think that what my poor forest child went through counts as ‘romantic’ by a long shot, but the sad part is, it is the only ‘romantic’ experience he’s had and it is what he associates romance or any physical contact really with. You don’t want to hear about this. It’s not a nice story.
18. Biggest insecurity: Bryan is actually a walking, talking bundle of anxiety, so he has a huge number of insecurities. I’d say that his biggest involves his utter lack of eloquence; he hates the fact that he can never make his words sound right, and fervently hopes he’s never in a situation where he only has one chance at saying something correctly, because chances are he won’t.
19. Weapon of choice: Although he’s undoubtedly better with magic, Bryan is rather fond of his bow, Heartstring. It’s a composite longbow, meaning that Bryan’s gotten some major upper-body strength from handling it (Ellis will forever be salty about his little bro’s rock-solid biceps like gdi becoming a hermit isn’t supposed to make you hotter). He just likes being an archer; firing an arrow takes such minute concentration that he can shut out all the pieces of himself he doesn’t like and focus on the trajectory of the arrow; when it hits its mark, he feels pretty good about himself, which is a rare feeling for him. :)
20. Role Model: Bryan actually looked up to his brother Artore a lot before he died; Bryan’s not the sort to often identify with others, but Artore was one of those people that could inspire even the most apathetic. There was an effortless confidence, a clear-headed sense of purpose, that Artore intrinsically possessed which Bryan found worthy of admiration. He strove to be like Artore in all aspects (often failing, but ever trying) until humans lynched him, which pretty much taught Bryan that no matter how great of an elf you are, you’re still an elf, and if you don’t keep your head down you’ll probably die for it. Always a bundle of sunshine, this one. n_n;
No matter how painful it always is, I do quite like talking about Bryan; thanks for the ask! :)
Almost want to ask everything Anabel on that last thing, so guessing that 50 questions is waaay too much, roll 10 fifty sided dices and answer the numbers :)
Hah, alright –
12 - She plays mostly fair in fights; she prides herself on being able to win fights on the strength of her arm. However, she’s not entirely above taking advantage of distractions or etc. if she feels like the person she’s fighting really deserves death by her blade.
40 - Ana would actually want super strength. Nothing says, ‘Leave me alone’ like being able to throw people through the wall. Also people probably wouldn’t expect someone with such augmented strength to use her head in a fight, giving Ana an advantage.
27 - *makes a face* Well, she’s beat the shit out of all of her cousins at some point, but I can’t quite conscience the fact that she almost killed one of her kin, Duarte, for wronging Ileen and bringing shame on their family. She really lost it that day, it so wasn’t kosher.
18 - Witty wordplay. It doesn’t even have to be terribly clever; she’ll always laugh at even the worst puns.
25 - Can’t Kill Us by The Glitch Mob
38 - With an oddly disquieting sense of adulation and anticipation, actually. She’s more ready for a fight in a thunderstorm than at any other time.
23 - The cloying scent of an apple tree in full blossom, reaching small hands up towards the fluttering, pink blossoms
42 - Apple and cinnamon-scented.
16 - No matter what the quest, everything that can go wrong does. Probably fights a vaguely draconic being with an asshole-ish sword. Ends up worse off than she started.
4 - Yes – she’s actually a little too good at keeping secrets; there will always be unknowns about her, things that only she is privy to.
Thanks for the ask, Ire!! n_n I always like answering questions about my russet-haired dork. :D
OTHER QUESTION! Ana was in her initial concept Bi, or such was put in later? (I'll confess that more often than not I leave my char's sexuality for deciding later during RPing or writing >_>)
Good question! To be honest, I didn’t consider Ana’s sexuality especially when I was creating her; she seemed to me more a creature of divinity than anything else, someone who would be more admired or feared than loved. She was so much stronger than everyone around her, and had such a private personality, that I couldn’t really see her being anyone’s girlfriend or lover; she was a protector first and foremost, shield-bearer and general, one to whom even the children of a younger god answer to, bow to. However, playing around with her narratively, I found that although my concept of her was as someone who would place desire aside in favor of duty was accurate, that doesn’t necessarily mean that she doesn’t feel desire, she simply puts it aside when she’s concerned with what she sees as ‘more important things’. And when it comes to feeling desire or affection, she doesn’t discriminate between men and women (you’ve just gotta lift XD).
So I guess, short answer: she was bi at her initial concept, I just…didn’t know it? Mislabled it? /character creator fail XD :) But thanks for the ask!! n_n
Anabel is bi, alright, but does she lean further in preferences towards one of the two genders?
So you thought I was joking when I said ‘her sexuality is muscles and swords’. XD To be serious, no, she doesn’t lean either way. Ana’s one of those lovely people who can see beauty in anyone, regardless of gender. Societal pressure, especially in her home-country, has forced her to lean towards men in terms of action, but privately and historically she doesn’t. :)
GotterLANerung is this evening, and all the cast are invited to partake in night or 10 of gaming indulgence and pizza deliveries. How do you see it unfolding?
It’s really nice for a bit because they all take turns playing Mario Kart and bad things never happen when you play Mario Kart, but then they pop in Super Smash Bros and Savien and Emmanuel start taking it too seriously (there can only be one ;p). The Fire Mage busts in somewhere between the fifth and sixth pizzas, and no one’s salty about it because the Institutions are too busy playing Assassin’s Creed: Unity to be salty at anyone but each other (Marine keeps fighting with Ellis over the only girl character, Aerith has no idea what she’s doing but it’s her danged best, Gawyn won’t leave stealth mode, and Tanith just wants a turn, come on guys you said he could play hours ago – meanwhile Briareus is watching and talking shit about all of their subpar, non-Unarri gaming abilities, except Aerith, because he’s too polite to go for low-hanging fruit). The Fire Mage proceeds to wreck the Avenger, Warrior, and Savien in Smash while calling them all fools. Savien throws the controller and looks around for his favorite dating sim to recover from the sting of annihilation, but it’s being played to a meticulous degree by Anabel. She refuses to cede the controller despite heavy teasing from Savien and Arienne because she needs to unlock all the cutscenes and for once in her life get a damned good ending. When Savien comments off-handedly that her blonde-haired, blue-eyed love interest of choice is mainstream, Anabel gets more offended than anyone has any right to be over a dating sim. Grayce and Delyth are in the back, drinking and reading books like mature adults, and Therin is just enjoying the show at this point, an activity Caecyn joins him in after she realizes the Avenger won’t go easy on her in Smash. By the tenth pizza, Bryan and Aerith have started to play Viva Piñata. Their combined adorableness in that adorable game is too much for any person to bear; they have to be left alone lest the urge to cuddle them rises too high. In the end, no one really wins – the Avenger and Warrior seemed like they were finally going to beat the Fire Mage but then he got a text on his phone (the number was unknown, but the only words were ‘Found You’; the Fire Mage swore, told Arienne to take care of Bryan, and ran, leaving the question of who indeed is the Smash Champion in Gotter unanswered for another day). Marine and Gawyn are tied for most kills (most of them being Ellis. No mercy.), and their final tiebreaker round was interrupted by Hasten arriving and announcing it was time to go home, and being as it was that he’s the only one with a car, the rest of the Institutions had to follow suit, leaving Aerith also unable to finish the candy-animal kingdom she and Bryan had so carefully began. Ana and Savien’s argument was interrupted by a quiet, “But they’re not…real…?” from Bryan; stung but also pressingly aware of the fictional nature of the women they’d just spent two hours arguing over, Savien and Ana mutually agreed to never bring the subject up again. Arienne was watching and grinning and probably recorded the whole thing. The subject will be brought up again (as will Anabel’s choice of a virtual girl that closely resembles a certain woman that Anabel claims she is absolutely 100% over, mhmm). Arienne, Delyth, and Grayce are the real winners – having not gotten their panties in a bunch over a game even once, and being the only ones there to have not overdosed on pizza and soda. *nods* :)
There used to a fifth renowned sword wielder in the Jindis strip, a woman by the name of Katarina Eclafette, who had won over a hundred duels by the age of 22. Her stellar career was cut short when she was killed by Arienne, who had been looking for a good fight. The Raven was rather disappointed in Katarina.
