A tasty take on the regular burger with toasted English muffins, gouda cheese that is still juicy, crispy bacon, and sweet-savory onion jam.
Ingredients: 4 English muffins. 4 Gouda cheese slices. 1 lb ground beef. 8 slices of bacon. 2 onions, thinly sliced. 1/4 cup brown sugar. 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar. 1/4 cup water. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: Preheat the oven to 375F 190C. Cook the bacon in a skillet until crispy. Remove and set aside on paper towels to drain excess grease. In the same skillet, cook the onions over medium heat until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Add brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and water to the skillet with the onions. Cook until thickened, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes. This is your bacon onion jam. Meanwhile, form the ground beef into 4 patties and season with salt and pepper. Cook the patties in the skillet or grill to your desired doneness. Toast the English muffins in the oven for a few minutes. Assemble the burgers by placing a Gouda cheese slice on each bottom English muffin half, followed by a cooked burger patty, a spoonful of bacon onion jam, and finally the top half of the English muffin. Serve hot and enjoy!
