Quick Find: Antoine Chevalier
Following up on my Bonus Find last night, I searched for Marie Chevalier's brother Antoine, known to be in Pittsburgh in the 1900 Census. The Census confirmed him as Marie's brother as her daughter, Isaure Ranc (from her marriage to Celestin Ranc), was living with him in North Fayette Twp, Allegheny Co., Pa. The census tells me that he was born in France with his sister, as was his parents. It also introduced me to his wife Rosy, born in France in 1849, and they were married in 1875 in France. They immigrated in 1890.
A quick search on Ancestry finds me the Levy Family Tree, which lists him as Joseph Antoine Chevalier, born 18 Jan 1853 in Gard, Languedoc-Roussillon, France, and died 10 Nov 1910. It also lists Rosy's full name as Rosy Alice Gouthier, also from Gard, and dying in 1904 in Sturgeon, Allegheny, Pa. If I can trust this information, it gives me some tremendous new avenues to explore to find more of my French roots.
