As predicted by Sen. Stan Gerzofsky, D-Brunswick — sponsor of a bill vetoed by Gov. LePage that would have given tax exempt status to performing arts nonprofits — the legislature upheld vetoes on a slate of three Democratic bills today, according to a Maine Today Media report. 

On Friday, performing arts leaders at the Maine State Music Theatre and the Bowdoin International Music Festival in Brunswick told The Times Record that they were disappointed by the veto and would explore the possibility of an override, which would require a two-thirds vote of the legislature.
