I love him, but I’m so tired of looking at this design lol. SHOUTOUT to the folks on Instagram for helping me name him !!

ANYWAY, I did some big brain thinking. If all Gowidians are goths by default... then it would stand to reason that a subculture would be ✨ PASTEL GOTHS ✨ or just the pastels. Although I didn’t go as hard on the fashion as I could have. Maybe next time 💕

Xander here is kinda like the unofficial leader of the pastel kids in town. He’s very chill :> Also, he’s a year younger than Equinox if you’re wondering —  which is why I had to reverse-engineer and give him a teen design.

These are just some random designs of background characters. Neither of them have names for now. On the left is the castle’s doctor/healer, and the one right is the high priestess. I’m still not 100% on her outfit, but it’s alright for now.

The doctor actually has dark magic markings! They aren’t typical in Gowoa because their considered difficult to maintain and fade in sunlight --- actually all Shadow babies are born with their markings. And because they can’t be in sunlight for the first few months of their life, they remain intact for a time. Most people lose their markings by age one, but definitely by year two, they’re gone.

Admittedly, most magic markings (dark magic or not) will fade out somehow and need to be constantly maintained. And Shadows actually use to do that too in the past! So most of the real reason Shadows don’t now is ✨ internalized racism ✨ :D 

In modern times, the markings are seen as ugly and dirty. And they aren’t! Healer man is actually part of a counterculture movement that wants to fight against that perception and bring them back. So even if the markings aren’t typical of Gowidians, there is a healthy amount of people that are beginning to wear them again.

This is Equinox in his fancy coming-of-age ceremonial clothes. His people worship a moon goddess, which is why that motif is so prominent. Also, you can find a close-up, some WIPs, and a b&w version here. Anyway, I’m gonna give some more context now, so feel free to peace out now.

The coming-of-age ceremony coincides with an event known as a “magical awakening.” And it’s basically magic puberty. It happens around the age of 21, it can last anywhere from a few hours to a few months, it affects everyone differently, and it sucks. But you come out of it stronger than ever so there’s that. (Equinox isn’t going through magic puberty here tho. It actually happens nearing his 22 birthday.) Even more info on this.

(Btw, Equinox is from Gowoa, and this is how they do it. Other countries have other traditions, of course.)

Inktober Day 3: IT’S THE VAMPIRE QUEEN ❤️😩 Love of my life 💕✨😭

Also, she isn’t only the queen of all vampires. She's one of the four original founders of Gowoa, she’s the chosen hero of the Moon Goddess, and the oldest publicly known living vampire. So she’s seen a lot of shit... Also, Gowoa has three clans: Demons, Shadows, and Vampires. So there’s three main rulers. But if we’re being honest, there’s only really one. And it’s the Vampire Queen.

Her name is Agathea btw! :3 But her close friends call her “Gigi”
