So these skin wall Continental GP5000s finally dropped from like 75 bucks a tire to 52 on BezoWorld so I said fuck it. Now is the time to give them a shot.

First off, they are NOT 25mm wide. They look thin as hell and are a bitch to pull that final bit of bead over the rim, which usually tells you it's thinner than what the rim bed was made for. Secondly, getting out of the saddle gives you a lack of confidence when the wheel is off axis, I imagine the reduction of contact has something to do with it along with the compound.

Which brings me to my main gripe. These roll fast as FUCK. Seriously, I was doing like 28mph at 218 watts and it was like...okay something is not right here. But the thing is you no longer feel like your pedal stroke is moving the bike forward. Like at some point the momentum of the tire rolling carries you through the rest of your pedal stroke without feeling like you truly completed it. It's a bizarre feeling, I can't tell if it's because it's on my 165mm crankset and it would feel better on my CAAD10s 172.5 but. I dunno. On one of my usual distance routes I did 2 minutes faster while doing like 130 kilojoules less work.

I just do not vibe with these tires. I can't even say they're bad 😂 The tread pattern gay as fuck tho, I guess I could get rid of them for that reason. Look too much like those shit gatorskins that all the fat boomers love. Swear to god they're the first people to talk about how the new generation is lazy but they can't change or patch a fucking tube 🤣
