How To Get gpg4usb To Start in Linux
After updating to Linux Mint 16 Cinnamon I noticed my gpg4usb start_linux executable would not run. This was most concerning as I store my passwords and special secret information in this 256bit encrypted format.
To fix this problem I first downloaded the 32bit libraries that gpg4usb requires by searching ia32-libs in Mint's software manager. Then I set executable permissions for the following files:
gpg4usb/start_linux gpg4usb/bin/gpg

How To Send and Receive PGP and/or GPG Encrypted Messages
PGP (pretty good privacy) and GPG (Gnu Privacy Guard) are one in the same. GPG is considered open-source so the geeks like it more.
I prefer gpg4usb.
If you want to send and receive encrypted messages with your girlfriend you'll need to trade public keys with her.
A public key looks like this:
Import your girlfriend's public key:
Write a secret love letter to your girlfriend.
Encrypt the message.
Send the encrypted message to your girlfriend.
Your girlfriend will paste your 'message text' into her gpg4usb editor and select Decrypt.
She enters the password she used to create her private key.
She is so happy to see your secret love letter and will meet you at that place where you did that thing.

I've found a simple way to use pgp encryption. It's transferable to any OS and can be stored on a USB drive.

If you want to send and receive encrypted messages the first thing you need to do is generate a private key. Keep your private key private.
In the event you lose your USB drive you'll need a copy of your private key.
Generate Private Key
This is what your private key looks like:
