I'm not the only one that thinks we might get to see Louis' family again soon, right?

Because yeah, the last time he saw Grace was at the cemetery and she was very clear that she was going to tell her kids and anyone else that he died too, but she didn't say she was going to stop talking about him altogether, and her kids were definitely old enough to remember, and he didn't hesitate to go into very specific detail about everything, some of which is extremely verifiable and stuff that Grace would've talked to family members about

It makes sense, right? Like most of the world believes that it's just fiction that was written as if it's fact, and they wouldn't look deeper into it because to them it's just a fun read or whatever

But like, imagine your sister texts you about this new book she'd been reading that she thinks you might like, so you decide to check it out, and at first nothing seems off but then you read about stuff that sounds vaguely familiar like you've heard it before, but you can't quite put your finger on why everything seems familiar, and then you get to the part about what happened to Paul, and the tap dancing at Grace's wedding, etc, stuff that you probably would've heard about before, and you go "hold on a goddamn minute, I remember grandma telling me this story about her mother" or directly from Grace herself depending on how old they are, idk I didn't research ages

like there's no way they wouldn't try to get into contact, right? I would for sure, I'd have so many questions

Going back I don't think Grace Du Lac was homophobic. Paul was because he was on some Catholic shit, and Mama Du Lac was shitty all around, but it really feels like Grace would have been cool with Lestat if Louis had kept coming to birthdays and Christmas and baby showers and things of that nature and brought the bastard with him. It really seems like her issue is the fact that Louis is completely withdrawn from his family and his culture to go run around with Lestat in the middle of the night. Like she's weird about Claudia in that one scene but it is kinda hard to blame her for that when Lestat low key kidnapped her brother and then suddenly they have a random 14 year old girl with them. Like where did she come from? Where's her real family? How did you two get landed with her and was it at all similar to how you ended up with him? Can she go to school or does she have to be nocturnal as well? All of these are valid questions that could fall under the umbrella of "is it really a good idea for guys like you to adopt a kid" without guys like you meaning gay. Louis and Lestat are creepy as shit for other reasons.

The conversations about Grace in this fandom are a bit strange to me. On the one hand, it's understandable why she is only perceived in relation to Louis and his drama. She is there for that exact purpose, she doesn't have a story of her own in the show. So she is judged solely based on the effect her actions and words have on Louis. And she is often judged harshly.

On the other hand, if we immerse ourselves in the world of the show and think of her as her own person who has a real parallel life to Louis, I don't find anything that she ever did egregious at all. She is a relatively traditional woman of her time (less so than her mother): she wants a prosperous and quiet life of a wife and mother. She cares for her brother who progressively becomes more distant from the family from her perspective because of their mother's rejection and perhaps influence of his partner. There's a limited number of things she can do because she doesn't hold as much power in the family as her mother and because she needs to be a respectable woman who cannot march on her own to her brother's house because he leads such a scandalous lifestyle. He is a pimp, a brothel owner and lives semi-openly in homosexual relationship. All of that could really hurt her, her family's reputation and, thus, also her children. In sum, there isn't much she can do – she relies on Louis to come to her (both literally and emotionally). He doesn't.

Maybe I'm missing some details (am I? I need to rewatch some scenes), but my overall impression was quite positive.

Also, her comment during the funeral about Louis and Lestat not being the right people to care for Claudia. That's right, Grace! Turns out they were not, fuck both of them in that regard.
