When im at the doomed yuri competition and my oponents are grace and gloria
Just finished the original Southern Reach/Area X trilogy for the first time and I think I'm experiencing shrimp emotions.... wow what an amazing beautiful story
Now time to listen to Wasteland, Baby! by Hozier on repeat while I process, because it literally fits this series so damn well!!
grace and ghost bird and the biologist. a woman trapped for three years alone. her psyche and humanity buoyed by the words of the biologist, now an entity, who provided detailed self harm instructions and a written recollection of the 30 years she spent with an owl. this woman endures area x for 3 years, unable to leave and intermittently haunted/hunted by the being that was once the biologist, who lives a life now beyond human understanding and also killed grace's companions. then one day. the biologist’s double, ghost bird, shows up with the acting director of the southern reach. seemingly identical, but a specimen birthed by area x. how did it feel to meet her? how did it feel to throw away that journal, after sitting alone with it for so long on the forgotten coast? did she feel liberated or was it like saying goodbye to an old friend?
while you were exploring each other’s bodies I was exploring this anomalous region of pristine wilderness and its unknowable, incomprehensible horrors
STOP BEING GROSS ON THIS POST!! NO NSFW!!
Final girl & final doppelgänger 🌿
Domestic post-canon Area X fanfic...Ghost Bird and Grace live in a cabin with an oddly intelligent, scruffy hare who they insist is their friend not their pet and he has his own therapy garden and everything
