What if.... Kuragin has no idea Violet's found Irina and she delivers this surprise to him during a dinner party that includes Isobel and Dickie Merton? I can see her doing something like this...

Hmmm, I don’t think she’d spring it on him - she was entirely too cautious about even mentioning to him that they “might” have found Irina before being certain she knew she was in Hong Kong, I’m just not sure she’d pull a “surprise, here’s your wife (in my dress)” on him. I still can’t fathom how this story will play out though, but I’m starting to wonder about Merton’s line in the DVD preview, about a high stakes game being played — we all sort of assumed because he said he’d hoped he’d won that it was in relation to his relationship with Isobel, but judging from those behind the scenes pictures, Kuragin and Irina are also in the scene at some stage — so perhaps something happens in which there’s a “scene” with Kuragin, Irina, and Violet, and Merton simply means that he hopes that what transpired is so awkward that his problematic situation with his sons now seems the an infinitely less ugly problem.

Interesting choice of words 'reunites'. Does that mean Violet has done everything in her power to find Irina and restore some of her dignity because she 'owed her' (perhaps as retribution for the affair)? Or does it mean Violet has done the noble thing and taken herself out of the equation? I agree with you on the frosty thing. I didn't get that impression from the photos at all. Besides that would be too simplistic and not interesting at all. Frosty vs. passion. Easy choice. Violet ftw!

I took “reunites” to just be a reference to the fact that they found Irina, and not in the context of a couple reuniting as husband and wife. It would be understandable if she was frosty though; I mean it was Violet who found her, not her husband - and he’s clearly still smitten with his former lover. It would make sense that she’d hardly be all warmth an affection. I’d be shocked if she wasn’t downright pissed off actually when you consider the circumstances; her husband’s former lover is the one to look for her, not her husband - and to cap it all, it appears she has to take handouts from Violet too (the dress). I’d be frosty.

Frosty sounds good! Better frosty than broken, depressed bla bla… But jokes aside… I guess he would care more about her, if she was a friendly. Perhaps he wouldn’t love her like he loved Violet, but at least he could like her.

I think “frosty” is definitely promising - it sort of implies she still has some spine, and isn’t broken. It would be very hard not to feel for her if she appeared as a sad and broken figure, forced to endure the humiliation of having been tracked down by the woman her husband is still in love with, plus whatever circumstances lead her to be wearing one of Violet’s dresses.

Apparently Violet s charity know no limits... I hope she gets the man in return for the dress!

Hahahaha, here’s hoping. Although given a lot of Violet’s wardrobe before this season, I think Irina comes away from that exchange, not only worse off, but seriously worse off. Violet get’s the guy and the pretty dresses.

Seriously though, it is kind of… “awkward” is the word I keep using, for the idea of Violet lending Irina something to wear, and Irina accepting it.
