My professor had me conduct the second quarter of the women’s basketball game today!
I’d conducted an entire volleyball game with our assistant director last semester but he’d never seen me do it. It was much more nerve racking doing it in front of him tho 😅 Anna (assistant director) is a good friend so it was much more chill
The same professor also asked me to help him teach a few things during his M/W 8am class. I’m so excited
Back To The Beginning
This week, Olivia Goleneski, our new (and returning) Graphic Design blogger introduces herself in "Back To The Beginning" https://wherecreativityworks.com/back-to-the-beginning/ #MarywoodArt #GraphicDesign #MFA
Hello everyone! To begin I want to welcome all of the new Art students and welcome back all of the returning students. I know last year was incredibly difficult for everyone, but I am hopeful this year will bring new beginnings and some happiness to all. Advice for Grad Students
As a grad student, you’ll be working under people from time to time. Whether that’s as a TA, as a grader, as whatever you do in your school. When those people are your peers, there’s usually not a problem with taking advantage of each other (usually.) But with professors, you may do something that you don’t have to to be nice. And then they ask you to do it again, and again, and before you know it, it’s becoming more and more regular. So two pieces of advice: Ask the coordinator what your responsibilities are at the beginning of the semester. There’s someone giving you your assignment, and they are usually the expert on what is expected and what is extra/crossing a line/doing a favor. Make sure you know what those are up front. When a person asks you to do one of those things ^, make sure they know it’s a favor. Even if it’s no trouble. Even if you were hoping they would ask. Even if (insert your situation here). Because they should know that you’re making their lives easier, and that you are under no obligation to continue making their lives easier. Now, off to write an email correcting something I should have corrected earlier. (This is the third or fourth time for a weekly assignment, so it’s not been completely abused, but it’s getting on my last nerve. It shouldn’t have gone this far.)
Things I love about grad school
