7 years ago I was studying abroad in Canada. When I came back home, I decided to get a bachelor's degree in psychology and then pursue a master's degree in Canada. I spent 5 years in college working my ass off, graduated with GPA of 9.4, an article and a book chapter published, and a great resumé. Somewhere along this path I got cold feet, and put the master's plan on hold.
5 years ago I met the love of my life (who is now my husband). He helped me find the courage I had lost on my way here. I have applied to 9 graduate programs across Canada, and haven't heard back from any universities yet. The wait is killing me.
My past self would be proud. I still do not believe I will get accepted, but at least I tried. Right?
I GOT INTO A PHD PROGRAM!!!! I’M GONNA BE A DOCTOR!!!
Alright, y’all - I know it’s the beginning of application season, and I just want everyone who’s applying to grad schools to know that it’s completely valid to feel overwhelmed by it all. I did when I applied to PhDs two years ago, and I didn’t even have a global pandemic to worry about.
So don’t be afraid to reach out - to me, to a friend, to your advisor, to another gradblr, to a parent, to a partner, literally anyone - if you feel like this is all too much. I can’t even imagine what y’all are dealing with right now.
You’ll make it through this process. I believe in you.
Y’all I’m so burnt out. So incredibly tired. But I’m trying to keep going so this application thing isn’t so overwhelming in the coming months.
Hello Again!
Hello hello! It's been a while, hasn't it? Life has been a rollercoaster ride since the last time I posted, and I just lost track of everything not school or grad school applications related. I had wanted to keep this up over the semester, but things just got a little out of hand. But either way, here are a few updates about what’s been going on:
Im now in my last semester of undergrad now!! Woohoo but also 😰😰
I applied to PhD programs in the fall and currently in the process of interviewing and playing the waiting game. More on that in another post later in the semester once I’m more certain about things and less of an emotional mess lol.
Hopefully I’ll be more consistent with this again! With everything happening last semester, I ended up letting go of all of my side hobbies which included this tumblr :/ but, my course load is less and I do enjoy making posts and seeing y’all’s content, so I hope to be more active!
Thank you everyone who has continued to follow and engage with my stuff! I hope to make more of the study guide/how to posts about different topics. If there’s anything in particular you want to see, send me a message/ask!!
So yeah! That’s all I have for y’all now :) hope everyone is doing well and staying safe! Here’s to a strong last semester 🥂
DONE WITH GRAD SCHOOL APPS FOREVER!
(as long as I get in somewhere)
Not gonna lie, applying to 15 schools was one of the most taxing experiences I’ve had. But now, I can just cuddle up with some coffee and enjoy the nice Icelandic landscape while I wait for my decisions

15 Feb 2020 — Not gonna lie, studying in the library at the slanty desk really hurt my back! I got some work done applying to assistantships and scholarships for graduate school. I couldn’t find any sources on how to do that on tumblr or the interwebs (maybe I wasn’t looking hard enough) so I was thinking of trying to make one on here. Let me know if this is something that interests you! I think it would be worthwhile to do a little series on my whole grad school application experience after I’m done with the whole process!
