Blog #1. Should Grade 12 University Level English Be A Requirement For Entry Into All University Programs?

Yes. I believe that Grade 12 English should be a requirement for University Pathways. Many University programs, even non-english ones, require long papers such as a thesis, a lab report, essays, etc. Being able to write long papers is a necessity for University students. 

Grade 12 English cultivates those skills and prepares students that are graduating for University.

English is a base for communication in Canada, English is Canada’s most commonly used language. 

Employers and schools look for good grammar, proper punctuation, spelling, and lack of informal tones and language. Usually when applying to a university an application essay is required. They are looking for professional students that know how to be unique and knowledgeable in their writing. 

So yes, I believe that Grade 12 English should be a requirement for University programs. It teaches student extensive languages, how to properly write essays, and it prepares them for many University programs.

Oh sweet Shakespeare… I normally barely get through the Shakespeare plays that we study at school but King Lear is probably one of my favourites so far, alongside Macbeth which we read last year and I thought it was brilliant! I, on the other hand, did not like Romeo and Juliet at all although the story is quite interesting and tells you what NOT to do in the situation where you fall in love with your family's sworn enemy's only kid. I am also really procrastinating on doing my ISU and do not thank past me for choosing such a hard and long and complicated book in grade 12 english but it also shows, I guess, that I am willing to go a bit above and beyond in my reading choices. Do you like any of Shakespeare's plays? If so, which ones? Have you read King Lear?

PEWDIEPIE’S SKYBLOCK IS 1 EPISODE IN 4

The Swedish Youtuber Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg also is known as “PewDiePie” is the first Youtuber to post a Minecraft Skyblock Series that contains 4 episodes and it is all about making a cobblestone generator over and over again.

Youtuber Pewdiepie’s first Minecraft Skyblock Video was uploaded on July 14, 2019, in collaboration with Kenneth Charles Morrison, also known as “CinnamonToastKen”, and they played like they know what they are doing, clearly, they did not. Though they do not know what they are doing, they made their commentary to be humorous and worthwhile to watch, making other viewers wonder “why did I watch two men making a cobblestone generator for 24 minutes” and a fan replied, “because it’s pewds and ken.” Their chemistry as a comedic duo made up for their lack of skills in the particular game-mode. Accompanying them is their catchphrase “Big Brain” and “Small Brain”, referencing them as genius Minecraft veterans that know what they are doing even when they are making the cobblestone generator completely wrong. That video ended up with 16 million views as per the date of the blog post.

After In the 1st episode, they continued it with three more episodes and each episode starts with the start. I repeat, each episode they start all-over again. The reasons are that the tick speed of the game is not adjusted in which the game time is stopped and their trees are stuck on being a sapling and not being a whole tree. Another reason is that the map they have downloaded is not compatible with the version they are currently playing it in which it ended with the world having game bugs. After 4 long episodes they concluded to stop the series and play a new one, the “floor is lava” game mode, in which the idea is from another Youtuber, and they ironically said it is completely original.

More Political Science! My teacher shared a few PowerPoints so what I have decided to do (thank you YouTube) is to transfer the PowerPoints to a PowerPoint made by me but it’s not a presentation, it’s rather notes. I honestly have no patience (nor the writing) for sitting at my desk and writing all my notes super duper neatly (props to the students that do it, you do you) so I have decided to just write the notes on one slide on PowerPoint and try to fit as much from the teacher’s PowerPoint on one slide. It helps because it’s all there and I can easily print it out (I also made it all colourful and I have a coloured printer so it works) and just review it like that. I started doing it with Political Science first because there is quite a lot of material to cover and then I decided to also do it with my Human Development class but of course with a different colour scheme (it’s pink based whereas Poli Sci is more blue/gray based) and it’s much easier for me to recall things when the teacher asks us questions about it :) I am still working on my NATO research but I have put a pause on that to do the notes and go over the previous notes (And yes I know that the picture has the date of a few days ago but that is because I took the picture ahead of time, I am truly doing the notes right now lol) Hope you guys are doing well!
