One of these days I really must learn more about Isabella Graham.

She was the real motive force behind 'Eliza's' orphanage (which is not to diminish Elizabeth Hamilton's involvement and skilled financial work - possibly her husband should have left the family's investing to her). There may actually have been a family connection - her mother was called Hamilton - but a quick look at her Wikipedia page shows her to have been a force of nature in her own right, in the way only a god-fearing Scottish widow can be.

This is what I love about learning the reality behind the simplified drama. All these fascinating characters who deserve to be better known.

I made two versions of this because I can't really decide what looks better. I tried to keep everything that is behind the historical Eliza in the front in a blue tone because: "blue represents meanings of depth, trust, loyalty, sincerity, wisdom, confidence, stability, faith, heaven, and intelligence."

The writing you see in the background are actual letters from Eliza and Graham Windham is the orphanage she established, that is still around today ♡

So probably a coincidence but in the name of the Orphange Eliza founded it has “ham” in it twice:
