Something I've Meant to Do
Since the dawn of The Grainhouse, I realized I would need to open up the script files periodically and change the headline to liven things up. I open up the script files constantly anyway, so it isn't really that big a deal, but I tend to forget, hence irrelevant headlines that last all month.
What I've done now is create a secondary file which reads in some information from the database, and based on priority hierarchy, generates a headline based on the information it collected. So, there's a message for the start of the month, end of the month, messages based on stock activity, and then if nothing else is valid, a set of 5 random ones. No message will display more than 5 days, and then it'll be replaced. The ones based on time and stocks will be displayed as long as they're true.
My hope is that these "interactive" headlines will be able to give a quick-glance at recent big events in the market, if not just a friendly reminder that if you want to gamble with your share prices for the last couple days of the month and let me auto-sell everything, you can, or you can sell while it's high (if that is the case).
That's another checkmark on my imaginary list of things that I consider complete The Grainhouse. The list is not finite, and ever-growing as I think of interesting new things, so will it ever be done? Not likely. But it'll be fun. (see what I did there?)
