(I'm willing to give the grammar mistake the benefit of the doubt as a typo, but an application essay really should be edited and proofread. Also, I'm curious as to how this person decided which groups to list; the choice seems pretty telling about this student's environment. Finally, it would be helpful not to make a Captain Obvious statement the main argument of your essay for a scholarship meant to show your critical thinking skills.)
