PIC INFO: Resolution at 1980x2689 -- Spotlight on a concert poster for American hard rock trio, GRAND FUNK RAILROAD, performing live in Honolulu, Hawaii on Halloween 1970.
OVERVIEW: "A fun Hawaiian concert poster for GRAND FUNK when they were one of the hottest bands in the land... October 31, 1970, Halloween night in Honolulu. Great graphics on this piece, starting with the vibrant purple & orange colors. Then the cartoon steals all the attention, depicting the Funksters on the road -- or rather, on their own train -- with sold-out cities in their wake, including Houston, Ft. Worth and New Orleans. A Sunbum production, Hawaii's second-largest concert promoter... and down at the bottom it even says, "a sunbum poster."
GRAND FUNK was on fire, releasing a new album on Capitol Records about every six months at this point. Their most recent was the multiplatinum "Closer to Home," their first Top 10 LP. Two weeks after this poster's show, they would release "Live Album," which would fare even better, a testament to the band's prowess as a live hard-rock act in the early '70s on a par with LED ZEPPELIN, at least commercially."
