A while ago, My grandma let me pick out a book from a small pile at a store. In the end I chose Dante's Inferno, not because of the religious context, but because I heard it was well written and I have a thing for graphic violence. Upon skimming a few words, my grandma said, "Pick something else, this mentions hell and Satan." She recommended that I choose 101 original Grimm's fairy tales. I ended up choosing it because I knew I could always pick up Inferno somewhere else. However, Inferno is one of a set called the Divine Comedy (because it was written for peasants, tragedies were for nobles.) When we got back to her house, guess what? The entire Divine Comedy was on her bookshelf. I started reading it after I'd finished reading the fairy tales and she told me how proud she was that I chosen to read such religious text. (I'd already told her I was agnostic.) This is why I wonder why she forbade me from reading well written religious texts in favor of twisted stories paralleling German politics when the brothers Grimm wrote these stories. Then again, people wonder why I want to take a non-cismale of color to my aunt's Christmas party and fuck them on her couch after changing the sign that says I love Santa to say I Love Satan. It's for many of the reasons you'd expect. This is an off topic thought. Note: My grandma's Catholic and she knows I've read gorier than Inferno so religious and graphic reasons are both out.

Bisou.
