On Friday evening, I finally heard Lisa Fischer perform. I've been a fan of hers for a long time, but had never seen her in concert. I already knew that she would be exquisite, but she exceeded even my greatest expectations. Her mastery of musicianship, phrasing, vocal technique, expression, and tone is breathtaking, and reduced me to tears several times. After the concert, I spoke to Lisa and told her how much her performance moved me. I also told her how I loved her performance of Barber's "Sure, on this Shining Night" in the movie "Twenty Feet From Stardom". She and her magnificent band, Grand Baton, touched my heart deeply. It was a transcendent musical experience. That left me fully inspired. It was without doubt the most magical performance of the year.
