My grand mother turns 86 this year,
With every passing day she is losing her gear.
Succumbed to spine disc prolapse,
Bedridden for years, lead to her moral lapse.
With fading senses and wrinkly skin,
She constantly earns for her kin.
Eyes losing its spark, Shoulder’s bend like an arc,
Trembling hands and drooling lips, her memories skips, without walker she slips!
Circa 2014, she was up and running,
Caring and pampering my offspring.
Effortlessly she managed our chaotic household,
Constantly delivering beyond her threshold.
Voracious reader of Tamil novels and journals,
Authority she exhibited alike Army Kernels.
Witty and sensible, friendly, and frugal,
information she carried, like Wikipedia and google.
Abandoned by her husband with 3 demanding kids,
Sailed all alone by herself through sheer grits.
Sheltered by her siblings and relatives,
Minimalistic spending her life’s objectives.
Empathetic and hardworking,
Ruthless yet accommodating.
Highly devotional, rationally emotional,
Quirky one-liners, her sarcasm phenomenal.
With stay away dad and working mom,
She, the CCTV camera in our dorm.
Me and my sister always on her radar,
One little mess, we will burn like a cigar.
She engulfed us with her cuisine, stressing discipline and hygiene.
“Intelligent and independent”, she says, only they take predominance.
Exhausted with life, my grandmother turns 86 this year,
she constantly questions when will death be near?
With worsening health and weakening soul,
She feels 86 is right digit to end the roll.
So my grandmother ain't shyt just like the rest of us. I know I'm not super young and I'm okay with that but I got the major side eye from the cashier for buying all these eggs. No one told them to be on sale. Lol I'm not one of those kids I promise I just really like a good egg sale #GrandmaTales #HalloweenAntics #NoIReallyLoveEggs #ImNotAKid #ImAWholeAdultNow https://www.instagram.com/p/B4STvQxADfY/?igshid=41bptzddaujv
She's so cute I have the hardest time deciding on what pic to keep as my background. #grandmatales #grandmasnandi #mygrandgirl #Zarriyah #6mthsold
Grandmotherly Wisdom
So, I was in the car earlier today and my grandma and we started talking about fast food chain specialties (i.e. McDonalds pretty much laces their french fries with crack) and she turns to me and says "Someone once told me that going to McDonalds for a salad is like going to a whore for a hug." Ya... My grandma. <3 *facepalm*
