Yooooo I am sooooo late and slow! 🤦🏾‍♀️ but a few years ago my daddy gave me my grandmaw’s, who passed before I was even thought of, Bible and song book and it’s been in my closet all this time and I forgot all about it until recent. I been feeling the urge to get it! She wants me to go ahead and bring it out! 😊 maybe she wants me to sing her a song 🤷🏾‍♀️ I can’t wait to find some things in her Bible and get closer to her. 💕

Every time I see my Grandmaw she asks me why I never come around.  I tell her I’ve been busy doing things, like missing you, and leaving town.

Yet, you make me feel guilty whenever I ask for your company; I’m too needy,  get too attached, you can’t be all up under me. And I told my Grandmaw what you said, that I should spend more time alone, get to know me,  find myself,  do a few things on my own. 

Now, her memory ain’t the best, but she remembers that she never liked you much. Said that you were the needy one, so out of line and out of touch.

She told me that she missed me, but I’ve been going about it wrong. Grandmaw said we should treat love as a visitor and never as a home.

I'm A Horse

Speaking of the garden, there was the time when we needed the garden plowed to plant our seeds. We had a plow, but the problem was we didn't have a horse to pull it. My sister, Phyllis, and I begged Grandmaw to let us be the horse and pull the plow. I don't think we got very far, but we sure had fun that day. I loved my Grandmaw.

My Life: Possum

Then there was the time the uncles trapped a "possum" alive and brought that to Grandmaw. As was our custom, "never allow anything to go to waste", Grandmaw put it in a cage and kept it up for a few weeks. When the time came she killed it, (I believe they use the term "harvested," now) and cooked it. Of course, she didn't say what the meat for that Sunday dinner was until all had eaten a few bites. There were a lot of "yucks" from the family but "too late now." I can still remember how sticky my fingers were after handling the meat. Everyone finished dinner and left the table. I didn't hear any more conversation about it, that day. I don't remember what that "possum" tasted like, “chicken," I think (hahaha).
