His warm smile receding a fraction or two at her demanding tone, Ogre silently regarded the woman before him while stroking his chin thoughtfully; her words had left him much to contemplate.
She speaks of stories? Another one to use such terms… true, I have come across instances where occurrences in one place have been the subject of fiction in another. Perhaps this is the case here?
At this thought, a strange, primal perturbedness made itself known, causing Ogre to shiver. However, it drifted away with the mental equivalent of a shrug; if it was so, it was beyond his control. Furthermore, continued Ogre to argue in the sanctity of his mind, the places he had seen in pages of books or as pixels on a screen were still just as real as when he had visited them himself; mere limited windows were they, he knew, one-sided glances into worlds far wider and deeper. These stories his interrogator had mentioned were most likely something similar. The smile on the pale man’s features returned to its former state with vigor, laced with satisfaction at having solved this existential quandary in an adequate manner.
The second tale she speaks of seems to have to do with the case of little Misao. I shall ask her for a description later. In the meantime, though, she is being frightfully demanding… outsider to this world or no, she would do well to learn manners.
"I must admit, I am in a bewilderment." he began to speak after about a minute of having stared at her in silence, sounding as if he had just been verbally assailed by a drunken vagrant speaking of winged unicorns on the moon. (Well, at least he was imitating what a ‘normal person’ would sound like in such a situation.) "You know my name, yet you speak of strange things that fly over my head and demand answers I don’t know the questions to. You are angry - why? What have I done to invoke your ire, stranger?" Ogre then raised his hands in a placating gesture, to emphasize the atmosphere of confused apology. "Please, inform me of my transgression and I shall do my best to make restitution."
