“You might notice some new stripes out in the Grant’s zebra yard. Early yesterday morning, one of our expecting females gave birth to a healthy foal. Mom has been doing a great job of staying close to her foal, feeding and protecting it. Congrats to mama and to our awesome team of keepers!”

#nationalzebraday 🦓 🦓 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙩’𝙨 𝙕𝙚𝙗𝙧𝙖, the smallest of the six subspecies of the Plains Zebra, can weigh from 485lbs - 700lbs and reach 4.5 feet, at shoulder height. They can live up to 40 years in captivity, 30 in the wild. 🦓 🦓 Even if they’re the smallest, I still wouldn’t want one to step on my toes! 🤭🦓 ᖴᑌᑎ ᖴᗩᑕT: 🦓There are more Grant’s zebras in the wild than any other species or subspecies of zebras.
