-slams door the fuck open-
IT’S ALMOST 6AM WHEN I STARTED WRITING THIS. IT IS NOW ALMOST 7AM.
MY ENTIRE DASHBOARD IS DREAM SMP
I HAVE A MONTH OF CONTENT TO CATCH UP ON
AND I AM FUCKING HYPERVENILATING IN MY BED BECAUSE OF A SEVEN YEAR OLD SMP
guys. guys. guys. please. please. cube smp fans. PEOPLE WILLING TO DECIATE HOURS UPON HORUS INTO AN ALMOST DECADE OLD SMP?? MPSPSPSPpSPS???
i am in tears. The Cube SMP is one of the most uncredited, but influential and inspirational groups i’ve seen to date.
After being sixteen, and associated with Minecraft giants at the time, Graser decided to cut-ties with all of them to follow through with something he had a passion for.
He wanted to do an SMP. one of the very first, inspired by Mindcrack. he lost friends. he lost power in the community. he was dropped. he was dropped by Thinknoodles.
From filming with Thinknoodles, DanTDM, Vikkstar. He just. he dropped that. And clung to other small creators. and made Cube SMP. because he thought it would work.
Cube SMP made me realize what i could do with the internet. it made me want to reach out. it made me want to meet people, to make an impact. to speak to others, to follow through.
It made me so inspired on Minecraft. it showed me what Minecraft could be. the community that you could gain from it. It taught me it doesn’t matter how good you are, or how good you think you are. that you just need to have fun, and try, and enjoy it.
The Cube SMP were small minecraft creators. Not a single founding member had a large audience. most peak, after almost a decade or well over, at 1 million subscribers, if that.
They became Roblox channels. Prank channels. Vlog Channels. VR Channels.
Graser10. Stacyplays. Hbomb94. Kiingtong. Parkergames. Grapeapplesauce.
These are just handful of members. So many of them got their start there.
I learned from them, inspired to be them, cried over them, watched them.
The fact that many of them are still friends. the fact that many of them still are actively playing Minecraft. the fact that some, like Hbomb, are finally getting the credit they deserve. it’s so. so amazing to see.
I genuinely cannot describe the feeling I get anytime i see any recognition for Cube SMP, and what it was. It was down to earth. it was humble beginnings, it was community.
The Cube SMP is who I looked at, and thought, that’s a community. this is what people can have. this is what platonic relationships can be. this is what i wish i could have.
It was riddled with flaws, marked as one of the most controversial SMPs. the mere conception of it ripping apart a friendship. People left, joined, were banned, quit youtube, quit Minecraft, all within the first year.
But today, all the members who stuck with it, from the beginning, from the middle, or towards the end, those who hung on, most are still talking about it. The ones who spent MONTHS on end fighting, still friends. The ones that spent years upon years, hundreds of hours, FOUR SMPs, still together.
The Cube SMP was a passion project by a sixteen year old. Everyone involved might’ve gone down unexpected paths, or dropped off the platform. But, so many of them, are here.
It’s beautiful. Rewatching this series in 2020, is just a whole different world. It’s impacted me in ways beyond words. i’ve spent the last two hours pausing, unpausing, crying, and typing while watching this video.

if you’re someone who watched the cube, please remember my askbox and dms are both always open. i don’t think a single thing could ever be more personal or important to me than that stupid, stupid SMP.
i genuinely don’t know if i’m crying out of joy, or longing, or what. i cannot even begin to explain how much that server impacted me.
i was so young when i was watching that series, but it changed how i viewed everything. it made me put myself out there. it made me start writing. it made me start wanting to build and play and meet people, and join servers and just.. be me. and find others willing to put up with that.
